Seems to be working fine to me, no issues so far... but then again, I haven´t made any scripts etc for some time. Will download a few old ones and try some new stuff out if I get time (which is unlikely these days sadly ). As always, it seems to parse (loadup) and also activate quicker... but I think I say that every time

And with the quote you made in reference to XBox 360 I don´t know where you are going with that.

<font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2> Erm, yeah - okay - I read it in your own post

X3 has just been announced to not have any Cockpits (a Sim without Cockpits is like a PC without a Keyboard) most likely in favor of the XBox 360 Crowd who want a combat only game where they don´t have to think

<font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2> Now since originally Egosoft and magazines had been stating that it would be ported to the Xbox, it seemed 100% logical that you were referring directly to that being the "dumbing down for the Xbox360" - since otherwise: Why reference X3 in your statement? Why reference the Xbox360 in the same sentance as X3? Draw your own conclusions. Now Egosoft have said that they didn´t have time to do the cockpits for the new ships in any form of justice. So rather than just leave some with/ some without - OR to NOT put the same cockpits in every single ship - they removed them. This is also because the new mouse interface (I say mouse because everyone immediately says "oh that was done for the Xbox..." - erm, no - it wasn´t, it was slated for having a poor menu navigation system with most reviewers saying a mouse method would be better and more indate!) overlapped directly on the old cockpits looking crap. Now they would obviously have changed this - and give the interpretation that is exactly what they "didn´t have time to do it" was all about. Draw your own conclusions, but at least read up properly on the subject first. But anyway.. getting away from disagreements upon things - there are more space sim games on the way/being planned. Whilst sims will not get the kind of volume that FPS are certainly having, there are several titles per year that are released. The fact that most sucked is because most are trying for a quick game/buck. Egosoft, and the creators of Eve are in it for the long haul - hence why their games are successful. What the games that do get made need is dedication and plenty of time to develop them fully. Edited by - Mike G on 10/21/2005 6:52:28 AM

Have you tried the idea of looking for the references? Take a peek at the cloak and the engine entries - you will see the effects that they use. Then search the files for those names instead. They didn´t just stick the effects in the effects.ini for the game engine to decide to use... each entry in the files (weapon_equip and engine_equip) actually have lines stating which effects they use. The whole game works on the same principles, everything is referenced to something

ok, just to address the issue about modding some one elses mod, its for personal use only, i have no intention to release it (except to maybe a few personal friends)

<font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2> Obviously in that case there is no issue at all

lol - love it actually, wasn´t the original idea behind the error reports because all those blue screens that were actually conflicts of drivers etc - and not windows fault (although it was blamed for them - hence why they did something)?

can you watch videos like on the new Ipods?

<font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2> Swap the nipples for projector lenses? I can imagine it now - dual picture, incase of loss from one projector due to handage in way. If you place your head in between the knockers, you can get 5.1 surround sound as well! To top it off, the lady can hold a beer in one hand and a bowl of crisps in the other! I can see a niche market - mass selling of the lazyboy aerola home cinema @ argos! (patent and trademark pending)

Well, depends upon what you are trying to do. The Explorer shouldn´t have an issue in making the system or zones as you wish... I would suggest reading the tutorials upon how to use Freelancer Explorer to get a grip on the item. As for modding Nomads Revenge, if you are making an "addon" - which is activated AFTER the mod - then it is fine (as in you only have your system files and related files for download which is activated in FLMM after NR2 is activated). If you are hoping to release the whole sheebang (whole NR2 mod with your addition in it), then you actually need permission from more than just Nima. The mod they use is Evolutions, with all our ships and work in it. They cannot grant permission to use our mod/contents. Edited by - Chips on 10/19/2005 11:41:19 PM

Just so you know this thread gets read, but I cannot offer any advice as I simply don´t know what is wrong for you. I can play on my own server running on my own machine, but I don´t have a router... so i would hazard a guess that the router is causing the issue... but I cannot be sure because I don´t exactly know what the router does (I don´t have one). It maybe ports need opening or something - the CD has a help manual on it if you explore that. Hopefully someone will reply who actually knows about these things

"Funny how? Funny like I´m a clown - I amuse you?" I would ruuuunnnnnnnn by that point. True, swear words have managed to invade a certain age groups language to an extent that its overused - nearly to the point where it has lost its meaning. Indeed, many require a "threatening look" to convey what swear words would have originally done on their own. Although many use it in everday language - Leon said it best to Matilda outside "ol Tony´s" "I want you to stop cursing. You can´t talk to people like that all the time."

yeah, but I would have shat my pants at "You talking to me?" - without the rest of it. Same for Terminator 2´s (if my memory isn´t failing me) "get out". Mind you, having Arnie sat in the seat next to you may cause that effect I guess

Anyone who honestly thinks that swearing has no place in the english language, should visit england and experience their use in everyday non-threatening contexts.

<font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2> Hmm, hope your not talking about all the chavs and mini crims walking around f´ing and blinding non stop. It turns the language into its ugliest form possible when swearing becomes the norm. Edited by - Mike G on 10/19/2005 12:04:46 PM

Friendly_fire - is that an actual ingame screenshot? The background makes it look like its rendered in a program... if it is in game, I am truly amazed!

I know for sure which person I would be backing away from. lol

<font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2> It depends on the circumstance doesn´t it? After all, didn´t bobby say "Are you talkin to me?" - which whilst containing no swearing still managed to convey the fact that you were in the Scheiße. Indeed, if you really want to make an impact, words are completely superfluous! Just vomit green soup all over the place and twist your head around - people get the message...

Quick note folks - Matt is not always available to check these forums, indeed your questions may go unanswered for long periods of time. If you wish a reply to an issue that you think is related to FLMM, then please use this forum here. If you create a new thread, it will probabily get help alot sooner

Nice work Matt - do you want this stickied? I would sticky it immediately, but the only problem is that we have so many stickies that it actually gets "lost" up there and may not be seen (as people won´t necessairly look at the stickies whenever they come to the forum). Needless to say -the offer is there if you want it though

XBox 360 Crowd who want a combat only game where they don´t have to think

<font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2> LMFAO I take it you have never actually tried this game then... because X2 was never renowned for its fighting at all, infact - if you wanted a combat only game you would be strenously pushed to attempt to include X anywhere in that. Indeed, Egosoft no longer offer any comment about whether it will go for an Xbox release either - which considering they originally said that it would should be taken as an indicator that they may not. And since Eve online has broken its own record, as well as the world record for the most games online at the same time in a persistent universe (16,330) - I would say its far from dead. There are 130,000 registered users at Egosoft, and 70,000 monthly paying customers for Eve... whilst the game genre maynot be competing in popularity with FPS, it is certainly holding its own small niche corner. (it was only a few months ago that the record stood at 15,000 online at the same time players, and only 60,000 monthly paying customers. Eve continues to grow, and I am sure X3 will bring a whole new load of players into the space sim market too (as they will have improved interface, graphics and other areas - something which will appease those not immediately taken with the original X2 game). If it detects nothing, then it shouldn´t communicate any details about your computer. If it does, then it is spyware - because it is/could be harvesting your data instead and communicating it without your permission. It doesn´t need to communicate ANYTHING back - unless it finds a cheat. But it does beg the question - to what cost are we going to stop cheaters from playing online games? Steam (afaik) hashes your game to check for cheats, and when playing online it will check your logged into steam and that the account is a valid one. But if WoW will scan your computer, what if other games follow this path? We´ll be having our computers scanned by everyone who wants to scan them - for no real reason at all other than to stop a few people from cheating. Is it not possible to code games that stops the ability to cheat?
