Only 5 ships were launched. It says so in the intro movie, and you can watch the 5 ships fly past you. Nowhere does the game HISTORY mention or show another three. The only thing which keeps that rediculous notion alive is a single bar rumor. If you take that over the game intro and the rest of the in-game storyline, you aren´t thinking any more clearly than the drunken fool you got the rumor from. There were only 5 sleepers. Deal with it. ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot! Ripper mines. You can get 10 of them during the campaign. Couple that with some lavablade 2/3s and you could do a job on hardened targets. ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot! I am truly amazed more people don´t want to profit off those things instead of using them...it would be great to happen upon a pair of c10´s and sell them for some rediculously high price to some poor fool who thinks they´re getting the ultimate weapon...How much do you think you could get someone to pay for them? From the way some people are so eager to locate the things, I think one could easily get $500k- $1 mil for a single gun... ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot! Battlecruiser Millenium had more realistic scaling...even that wasn´t completely perfect scaling, but believe me, it takes forever to get anywhere without jumping in that game. Few people playing FL have the kind of patience it would take to wait on such massive distances. FL is not a hardcore sim, but more of a sim-lite that somewhat blurs the line between arcade shooter and simulator- if you pressed larger distances and proper scaling, you would lose some of the audience. That would be good, however, for a mod- I have no doubt that the capable modders for FL could increase the size of the planets, moons, stars, and everything else. ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot! -No Nomad weapons. Put an end to the cheap crap uber-guns. -J******* support. You know what I mean. No need to mention that further. -NPC loot/escape pod tractoring...when a freighter gets whacked, it would be nice to see the escorts try to salvage

The difference: You can USE the Kusari version. ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot! I have to wonder what would happen if someone mounted 5, 6, or 7 shieldbusters and a torp or missile on their ship...that would be the mother of all VHF smackdown rigs (for a missile user, that is)- 2 shots, no shields. 3 shots, no ship. All on the first pass, if done right...wouldn´t lose power, only 7229 credits. Could be done with either HF or VHF. Of course, that would be the square root of crap against an LF, but the look on the other guy´s face would be nothing short of priceless... I´ve got to try that soem time... ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot! But players do, and with a weapon that´s more energy efficient you can be firing the winning shot while the other guy is sucking the bottom of his battery. If you can dodge the super-powerful energy hog guns, you can have at least a few seconds in which the enemy operates with significantly less firepower. ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot! The best set-up: . . . . . . . The one that doesn´t get you splattered all over known space. It´s different for every player- rather than asking for someone else´s rig, try different combos of weapons to see what you get the best kill/death ratio in. What works for someone else might get you pasted. That said, try something without Nomad weapons. There´s plenty of weapons that are nearly as powerful without being so cheap. ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot! Proud owner and operator of a Stiletto! Much as I love my Patriot, I´d have to say the Bounty Hunter AP line. Nimble, powerful, and entirely underestimated. ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot! Proud owner and operator of a Stiletto! And here I thought people had moved off of senseless flaming and started giving real reasons why "x is better than y." The Hammerhead is a great ship. It can cause almost as much damage as a class 10 rig (very close in fact, only the class 8 mounts keep it from mounting as much firepower), and is more maneuverable than some HFs. ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot! Keep engine kill on for the whole fight. It´s like turret mode, but at 200m/s and with maneuverability. Every time the enemy gets a good track on you, tap the thruster and you´re heading off in a new direction. Great when in an LF; makes it REAL hard for anything to hit you. Another one...more of an alteration on stopping and letting the other guy zoom past: X slows you down much, much faster. And gives you a little bit of reverse speed, so they go past even quicker. And, of course, it lets you zip back up to full speed as soon as you release the key. ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot! Anything, really...those stupid NPC´s don´t know how to fly a Patriot or a Dagger. And Bloodhounds suck. If you really want some fun, get a class 3 or 4 ship, load it up, and go to the California system 1 lane beyond the NY jumpgate. One of the only places you´ll ever find that can have upwards of 30 baddies after you...which is enough, even with crappy Bloodhounds and Rogue weaponry, to pose a mild threat to larger and more powerful ships. ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot! Escape pods...if fighters can have them, capital ships certainly can too. Especially ones designed to prevent anybody on board from dying. ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot! Proud owner and operator of a Stiletto! You don´t earn them, but at least there´s a nice big fat set of disadvantages to using them: limited supply(until server reset), massive power drain, slow fire rate/projectile speed. *some other* weapons are limited by none of that, and are inherently cheap as hell because of it. ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot! How do the Kusari ships look like the Yamato? The closest things I can find to what that looks like are the carriers from the movie version of Starship Troopers and the Kushan heavy cruiser from Homeworld, neither of which look anything at all like the Kusari pocketknife designs. Kusari capital ships are very angular, while the Yamato is much more rounded- and it doesn´t have fins! ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot! Match projectile speeds, but feel free to use varying refire rates. The refire rate is how often you can fire, while the projectile speed is how fast the bullets themselves travel. Having weapons of multiple different projectile speeds means that they will all take a different amount of time to reach their target- your crosshairs only adjust for a single projectile speed, so it is very possible that only one or none of your shots may hit the target at all, even if they all share the same refire rate. This is not good. With matched projectile speeds, the crosshairs will always be in the right place for the target´s current course and speed, and you will hit with all your shots as long as the pilot does not evade. Even with refires accross the board, one of each even, 2.00, 3.03, 4.00, 5.05, 8.33, as long as the projectile speeds are matched they will all hit the target. ---------------------------------------- Proud owner and operator of a Patriot!
