I think a little update on things can´t hurt I see. OK, the whole DNN plan is off the table. It´s still sitting on the server, but we won´t go through with it. Also the ´new forums´ as you can see on http://www.lancersreactor.org/forum is off the table. However, we WILL change a lot on the entire site and we WILL get new forums (we´re working on both at the moment). Hopefully the latter can be done pretty soon, the rest of the plans will take a much longer time. Arcon is working on that as we speak and when there´s something worthwhile to mention, we´ll tell the community of course. For now it´s hard work for Arcon and very time consuming, so you´ll have to be a little patient for now. ______________________________ Eraser Horseman of The Lancers Reactor E-Mail/MSN: eraser@lancersreactor.org "I´m a firm believer in the philosophy of a ruling class...specially since I rule." <img src=´http://www.lancersreactor.org/t/i/lan_butt.gif ´>

Yes, we do have a generous host, however we also have to pay for certain things ourselves. Like additional hardware for the server, additional software and of course the domain and such. ______________________________ Eraser Webmaster of The Lancers Reactor E-Mail: eraser@lancersreactor.org MSN: eraser@lancersreactor.org <img src=´http://www.lancersreactor.org/t/i/lan_butt.gif ´>

I play both PC games (in the earlier days I played much with Atari´s and the Commodore 64 and MSX) and console games. I used to have a Playstation (and the Nintendo 8 bit and SNES even before that), but then I had to decide on whether to go for the Xbox or PS2. After a while of comparisons between hardware and available games for each console, I decided to go with the Xbox. I´ve enjoyed it very much (still do) and also still enjoy PC games. But now I want to go for the next generation console. I´m leaning more towards the Xbox 360 than I do to the PS3 at the moment. I mean, many sites are claiming the PS3 is the absolute winner of the two, solely based on hardware specs, but more respectable websites aren´t so sure it´s a clear verdict. But what many people are forgetting is that it´s not all about hardware... it´s about the games and what they can get out of the hardware. If I have to believe half the stories I read about developers having a hard time crafting their games for the PS3 and it´s much more easy for the Xbox 360, that clearly has to say something. However, I also know you have to take many of those articles with a grain of salt. I just don´t know, I guess I lean more towards the Xbox 360 because they have actually shown in-game footage and screenshots right from the beginning, where I haven´t seen much of in-game footage of the PS3 yet. And besides, I don´t like the fact Sony is constantly postponing showing in-game footage. They said they would show in-game footage at TGS 2005 (Tokyo Game Show), but at the last minute they decided not to do it and came with a lame excuse for it. And they even lied about the upcoming game Killzone, where they showed a vid and said it was in-game and real time, but eventually (after many sites claimed it was fake) they admitted it was pre-rendered. Sony did the same thing when they announced the PS2 and talked about the ´´Emotion Engine" and accompanied a nice vid with that. Everyone was all "Ooooh" and "Aaaah", but NEVER did any of the games on PS2 looked anything near that good. And then there´s also the online part of the new consoles. I haven´t seen or heard much about PS3´s online capabilities in comparison to the already very established Xbox Live. I mean, I can understand it´s all marketing and Microsoft is also doing it´s fair share of making things appear better than they often are, but at least with the Xbox 360 they are showing more in-game footage and ´real´ screenshots, so you have a better feel of what the machine can really do. Sony just seems to throw out as much CGI as possible. Just my 2 cents

I think it all depends on how much influence PJ will have on the script and the directing. At first there were rumors of him directing the film, but now it´s officially announced he´s attached to the project as an Executive Producer. However, keep in mind that the project doesn´t have a director yet and anything is still possible. I mean, I doubt PJ will direct the movie himself (he´s going to direct Alice Sebold´s novel ´The Lovely Bones´ as his next project), but the fact he himself is attached in combination with the excellent WETA Digital team, might attract some interest from A-list directors instead of the usual B-list directors. Still, it´s hard to say any respectable A-list director will want to be associated with a videogame adaption, but then again, nobody expected someone like PJ to be drawn in either.... Time will only tell I guess.

Yes indeed bejon4, please enlighten us on your fantastic lifestory. We´re just dying to hear it

My most sincere condolences. I wish them all the best in the difficult times ahead. ______________________________ Eraser Webmaster of The Lancers Reactor E-Mail: eraser@lancersreactor.org MSN: eraser@lancersreactor.org <img src=´http://www.lancersreactor.org/t/i/lan_butt.gif ´>

Yes, I´m very pleased to see many great members have returned to TLR or are considering it. I´m also very excited about the new additions to the staff. They have already shown extreme enthousiasm, heart for the site and the community and they possess incredible talents. So their presence and help in the team is more than welcome. Grand Mullah hey Taw.... well, we might work something out at a later point @J Dawg and Griffon_26: Well yes, we do have many Admins/Mods on staff now, but just think about how many are actually active. Not all of them are active anymore and even the ones that are, we are in different timezones, so we won´t all be online at the same time.

That´s right Indy, I just changed the ranks for TLR staffmembers, or better yet... removed them . I think it´s better to don´t have ranks for staffmembers anymore. That only caused for confusion anyway. People were always saying like "hey, bp is a Space Marshal and Eraser is a Commander in Chief, so who´s in charge?" and stuff like that. And now we have even more Admins on the staff like Arcon. Just too confusing.... I´ll be updating the staffpage asap as well.

EEK! Two Commanders in Chief hey Hmm.... I might have to make some changes to the upper ranks In any case, a formal congrats to you Will! Make us proud! ______________________________ Eraser Webmaster of The Lancers Reactor E-Mail: eraser@lancersreactor.org MSN: eraser@lancersreactor.org <img src=´http://www.lancersreactor.org/t/i/lan_butt.gif ´> Edited by - Eraser on 9/19/2005 12:20:17 AM
