Re: For those who like Open Singleplayer

changing .dlls and making .asm files???? need help

....I think this is the right place to post this.... I've been playing around with IDA Pro (disassembler) for awhile. I loaded in and disassembled a DLL, then found the data and made the changes I want to the disassembly. Now for the stupid question: [drumroll] [/drumroll] How do I save my changes and impliment them? Do I make an ".asm" file from the complete original DLL, or do I make a partial? Where do I go from there? Any hints or help would be appreciated. ......Yeah, that's what I've been ...

Re: CloakingDevice hardpoint - how to use it? (without cloaking)

I think only NPCs can use the cloaking hardpoint, but I've been away from this game for rather awhile, so I hope someone knowledgeable helps you soon

Re: The End of the World - sort of

With such skillful throwing about of taunts and jabs, I'm out of my league here, and consequently will say nothing.

Re: Flyable Capital Ships

Oh, I see. That is work done in FLHook and/or FLAC, programs which I know nothing about. The people you need to talk to are w0dk4 and ...some other guy. They are pretty well known for they're developments of FLHook.

Re: The End of the World - sort of

Heheh, you people are funny. Sure the world is going to end, but who cares? While we're at it, let's talk about who's older and gonna die first, that'll end up in the same place. Personally, I agree completely with Taw.

Re: Flyable Capital Ships

Do you want shields on your battleships? I think they're a bit redundant, given the hitpoints that you could assign(but that's just me). As for the physics, that is a matter of playing around with the settings in the shiparch.ini file. Make sure you have the appropriate modding software downloaded, and have read the pertaining tutorials on this site (and others). Most of the resources that you need are available right here on TLR.

Re: Getting FL Source Code: Have we really tried everything?

Don't forget player automatic turrets, and true hiring of wingmen. Interface additions galore. I suppose we could hire a hacker......nawwww

Re: loadout_faux?

msn_playerloadout is your starting ship in SP. playerloadout_faux is a stand in ship and loadout that is used only once in SP, within memory. The ship you see in the first undocking sequence in vanilla SP story is the faux ship. This is why, even if you start with a modded ship, when you undock from Manhattan and see the Donau you always have the starflyer(faux ship). Then when the sequence ends, you have whatever ship you modded in. Cheers :)

Re: Wierd issue with infocards (with no mods)

That's odd. It stays that way even after docking on it? Hmm..... I used to know how to change the info based on whether or not you had docked there. It's a savegame edit. But if after you dock, you still get this.....I can't help :(

Re: Mod of the Year Awards 2008

FTOW looked pretty cool. I've known about the Crossfire mod for ages, but never tried it. Most of the mods I come across have great content, many graphics improvements/additions, and always new/changed ships. But there seem to be none of the larger scale mods that stay vanilla-style and conservative, yet add anything meaningful. I gotta get back to mod writing. [Scratches head and walks off] But yeah those two mods looked great.

Mobile Zones

Hi everybody. I was just wondering if anyone had figured out a way to attach a zone to something moving like a ship or missile. This could be used for a radiation warhead, or for making area of effect buffs for support ships, ala "Sins of a Solar Empire". If you think you know something about it, give a shout :)

Voice Talents

I have played through the story numerous times, and only recently did I fall upon the credits list on IMDB. There's a lot of people in that thing! Aside from the obvious starring of George Takei and John Rhies Davies, there are portions (npc repeatables, probably) by Christopher Lee. I thought I heard an evil laugh somewhere while playing.....there are others, but I forget at the moment.
