empathy.ini exported into Excel spreadsheet

>> So the basis for any indirect adjustment to your standing with a third party is >> always the direct adjustment your action caused to your reputation with the >> immediately affected party. Yes, exactly. If you kill enough Xenos to incur a 5 "bubble" change in their liking of you, you can predict the exact change of any other faction simply by multiplying the factor from the spread sheet with the 5 bubbles. -fyo

empathy.ini exported into Excel spreadsheet

I can verify this as being acurate. In what now feels like a rather silly excercise, I´ve spent quite a few hours manually making a "Faction Table" similar to this. What I was looking for was the multipliers. That is, if I killed Xenos for 5 bubbles loss (of Xeno faction standing), what would the impact be on other faction standings? It was pretty quickly obvious that everything was in increments of 5%, which matches the spread sheet as well (obviously). The values I got are also *ver...

Bizarre Leveling Up

The answer to this is very simple: Freelancer levels you up the second it believes you have a higher net worth than required. The problem is that Freelancer GIVES you money or items in a trade BEFORE you give the items or money. Thus, for a *very* short time, your net worth is significantly higher than it should have been. Yet another silly bug that a modicum of testing would have revealed. While brilliant (IMHO) in many aspects, this game feels cut down and pushed out the door in order to make ...

End Game Broken Promise?

The game is certainly too "Wing Commander"-ish for my tastes, and not enough like Privateer... but, that said, there *are* a lot of stuff to go and discover after the end of the story line. Yes, you need to get over the anti-climatic feeling... What annoyed me as well was that you couldn´t even leave the story line (which is why I call it Wing Commander-ish). After a few missions off-story-line, everyone tells you that they cannot sign you up for a mission, because you already have on...

Faction Hits

Bram: More "undocumented" faction effects of killing Mollys: -*increases* your rep with Xenos (slight effect) -*decreases* your rep with Independent Miners Guild (medium effect) There are plenty more and unfortunately, the system seems somewhat complicated (i.e. non-linear - that is, killing X number of Mollys won´t effect your standing with a given faction by the same amount when repeated - that is, if you lose a "bubble" the first time, you won´t necessarily lose the same...

1st off: Commodities/Economy/Trade Tax.

X-Beyond the Frontier had the best economic model I´ve seen in a space game. The principles were *very* simple, yet it worked very well. The basic assumption is "supply and demand". The price of any product is purely a function of the current amount of that product available on that base / factory / planet. The planet has a certain consumption of the products that can be sold there. Let´s say a planet makes product A. Every one unit of A produced requires (consumes) X units of produc...

Now that´s what I call Advancement!

Wow, that´s a lot of missions ;-) Around 25k a mission? That´s still 40 missions... certainly many more than I´ve done in the game so far. Lol. -fyo

Does such a bug exist?

Considering that you can make a million credits an hour just trading normally, I don´t see why anyone would bother cheating. Cash is a non-issue in this game, due to its poorly balanced, primitive economic &quot;model&quot; (although I hessitate to call something completely static a &quot;model&quot<img src=smilies/icon_smile_wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>. -fyo

Cockpits and Interfaces, so on and so on

Cockpit view / 1st person: RTFM &quot;fullscreen&quot;: All you can do is minimize the different elements. That will get you some ways, but short of maybe a MOD, there´s little else you can do. The cockpit view isn´t any better, so that´s not a good option. -fyo

Now that´s what I call Advancement!

2 Million is doable in less than an hour of trading. And that´s just one fairly random route I discovered during the story-line. Since this is the spoiler forum I feel I can post the actual route (there are undoubtedly better routes - as I insinuated, I haven´t spent any appreciable time trying to find the best routes): Roppongi (New Tokyo) to Tau-31 Gate Site (Tau 23) w. Gate/Lane Parts: $560 buy, $1400 sell ==&gt; $840 profit Tau-31 Gate Site (Tau 23) --&gt; Narita Outpost (New Tokyo) w. Ber...

Cockpit view unstable

Ok, I can see that argument. However, if that were the case, I should be able to see more of the sky as well! As it is, whenever &quot;you are pushed back in your seat&quot;, a tap drops down in the middle of the top of the screen. Not a very good illusion. Maybe if they actually moved the viewpoint back a bit... But then again, this is one part of the game engine that is absolutely pathetic: The view from the cockpit is *exactly* the same as in the 3rd person perspective! The only difference is...
