Top Throttle Speed only 80?

Dredd, Cut ppl some slack... for in this case you are likely to be the one who is WRONG! Stop in relation to what??? do you really think the eath is stationary? Do you think the Sun is STATIONARY... ? Cmon man you are applying physical theory to the real world and theory does not always have an application to the real natural universe. Sure there is minor, miniscule amount of friction but all it would do is slow an object, if the object were to get even close to a celestrial mass it would be far...

Too Easy!!!

Saber, How did you get that annoying mission wypt to go away inbtwn story-driven missions? It is soo damn annoying... to me at least. Also, do the prices EVER fluctuate ? are they for the most part (outside of mission stuff) fixed at every base? sure seems that way in the NY system but have not yet left NY very often or for long... Thanks for and help! Lynx

Top Throttle Speed only 80?

Guys, Please if you really read all of Rikaelus´ post you would know he meant to use the word "FRICTION" but mistakenly used INERTIA, Open your eyes and cut ppl some slack... Sheesh... Cheers, Lynx

The mighty gods of Irony

R, Now that is worthy of being called a "Han-Solo" stunt! LMAO... Hey (a little off topic) but does anyone know how to disable the damn mission waypoints when you do not want to do the next mission right away...? it is so annoying everytime I leave a station to get that pop up and have the constant shortest path waypoint be computed as a constant reminder to come on back any time as long as its SOON or we´ll just keep calling on you til you do... I did the first 2 missions and traded ...

You´ve played too much FRreelancer when

43. You get pulled over for speeding and tell the cop it´s ok to scan me for contraband, cause you are clean. 44. You take your car to jiffy lube and ask for them to install thrusters, a mine launcher and upgrade the shields! Cheers, Lynx

Sound in space?

computerz, Correct! Milo, I still think you are missing the point. There are laws and there are theories, theories are not fact, but rather unproven or rather un-disproved logical speculation based on scientific observation. Many of Einstien´s theories are still just that... This is where we end up... and if you still disagree then that is fine. Cheers, Lynx

Sound in space?

hmm, That is certainly food for thought.... I thought laws of physics were able to be proved, tested and results that prove a thing to be true. For instance the speed of sound can be measured in a given medium. And gravity, the attraction of two masses, and earth´s acceleration have all been proven to be fact. The laws of thermodynamics have been proven. If something has not been proven but is generally accepted and supported with observations that neither prove nor disprove a hypothesis then t...

Grimm, Has that been proven? or is it still the current theory? I thought it is the current theory due to the inability to test it... yet... Cheers, Lynx

Mines

Uly, You are not considering the sea-born mines and if they are not tethered then they can come at you if you are heading against the current/tide. Both Iraq ans Iran had placed mines in the Persian Gulf and they are not always stationary, though they did lack any sort of discretionary guidance. Huffer, The US Navy has mines that fire a MK-48 (or is it MK-46? I forget exactly) torpedo at the tgt. Food for thought... Cheers, Lynx Edited by - Lynx on 03-03-2003 23:27:35

Sound in space?

Good links! I think their are parallels to FL... So what is a jump point then? The author Millis states "Electromagnetism is suggested as the control phenomenon for two reasons: electromagnetism is a phenomenon for which we are technologically proficient, and it is known that gravity, spacetime, and electromagnetism are coupled phenomena. " I would think this is politically motivated with the intent to receive research grants or foolish, we should be looking into becomming Technologica...

Sound in space?

Stregone, You are speaking from a newtonian framework and are limiting yourself to 3D if we think 4D and throw time into the equation then in reality at some point in the future NASA should begin if not already work on a form of folding space/time to "warp", "wormhole" or otherwise take a shortcut from Point A to Point B. People thought about going to the moon more than a 100 years before the feat was acomplished. I do not subcribe to the theory of "cannot" I prefer...

Dogfight tactics

Classic Air Combat Maneuvering(ACM) but in space. Turn hard use thrusters to close and only energy weapons to save on the expense, mix my weapons btween shield burners and hull busters. Batteries are relatively cheap and keep me alive when pursued by a mob. I live for that windy twisting chase on the enemies tail, love hearing their cries that they cannot shake me. Great Game! Thanks to cockpit perspective, w/o that I would not buy it! Cannot wait for tomorrow! Cheers, Lynx

Sound in space?

Finger... Let me clarify something for you... Anyone who has ever taken physics... and passed knows sound requires a medium to travel through. But what you seem to fail to acknowledge is that it can be any medium, not just air! Sound travels through water(eg. SONAR), metal, wood, etc. Sound travels through any phase of any matter. That being said, there would still be certain sounds if the game were to be made ultra-realistic. Such sounds as your ships engines normal operation the strain of thru...

Good trade route in demo?

I found the Battleship to West point (or vice versa) shipping H-Fuel to be VERY profitable in a rhino, 336 to ~380-ish. Also it was mentioned before that the economy was fixed in the demo, I think it is by design. the real game looks to have fluctuating prices. Cheers, Lynx CHECK. "Let me scan you while you get shot to pieces"

Hey Maus, Ever stop to think that someone or some faction you ticked off put a price on your head, you appear to have the manners of a bull in a china shop so it is conceivable that you are wanted dead and the police have been paid to look the other way. Turns out that in todays world the police are sometimes involved with committing crimes but who is to enforce the law when the only law enforcement around is the one breaking the law. The other day I saw a state trooper backing down the shoulder...

First person v third person

Peet-Air, in your sig, you show a navy Commanders three stripe shoulder board rank insignia, and a gold oak leaf cluster insignia of a Lt Cdr (Navy) or Major (other branches)... Just thought you would like to know the difference. Cheers, Lynx - been there done that <img src=smilies/icon_smile_wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>
