Re: Freelancer Sirius

Hmm. I wasn't aware that advertising for other sites was allowed. I would have thought that a first post would be better reserved for an introduction rather than an advertisement designed to take users away from someone else's forum ...

I guess I need to dust off my Nigerian money transfer requests and submit them too ...

Advertising is ok, as long as it's not insulting TLR in any way. I mean, that's basicly what this Forum was made for, to allert others of the other sites out there.

OK, that means the Admins are tolerant. It still seems odd that the very first post before any introduction is for advertising purposes. On my fora that would be an automatic ban. One thing in DonnieF's defense is that he at least waited a week, presumably lurking and getting used to the forum, before making his first post. Most Spammers are hit and run, never to return.

I guess I'm just paranoid from running my own site and having to fight so many Spammers. I own a couple of phpbb fora and Admin in others. The ones I own I've set up with what I like to call a Spam Trap where newly registered users posts cannot be seen by anyone but me until I'm sure they are safe for the rest of my community members, mostly students new to computers and clueless to the problems associated with the Internet!

In case you haven't noticed, I haven't even listed my website in my profile, as I created the primary site mostly for teaching purposes and don't even necessarily want many others on it. Not something you see every day.

Re: Freelancer Sirius

Im no spammer, ive been here awhile, before Microsoft shut down the GLS and TLR. My forum is mainly left in the dark, practiclly only about ten people use my forum, (most of them from Uberlancer). I would not spam on any place. My forum is clean, may be slow at times because its a forum from a free forum website.

So why not post some useful information that would help the members of this forum. It appears they are being nice enough to allow you to advertise you site (6 references in 3 posts!), why not give back with something that they may not know or something useful that they may have forgotten?

I've been away for almost a month but hope to participate a bit more now I'm back.

Re: Freelancer Sirius

Freelancer is not a very diffucult game to figure stuff about, even when we don't know originally know about what happened between the colony ships leaving (mainly im talking about the fight, ya know, the nomad thing) and 800 A.S. where the game takes place, but the game is easy to figure out, like at first, the Hispania, I thought it was destoryed or something when I started, but when I first visited Omicron Alpha, found the Hispania and that story had opened itself to me as quickly as a book. (If your asking who i am, I DonnieF, don't believe me go here, check the second anouncement on the portal) Most info I know either everyone knows or ppl already posted it and I read their post. By the way, isn't spamming mean that ur posting the same thing more than once?

Re: Freelancer Sirius

Wow, no posts since January :P . Anyway, just like to say that Freelancer Sirius has moved to a semi-permenant site (as Spock may know, I'm looking for the permenant site). So far, we have 5 registered users (does that make you feel that the site isn't bugged or something Spock? ) We have our own logo, supplied by Soupman, from team [RIP] (from Freelancer Community Forum). Here is the logo:

Our semi-permenant forum URL is Freelancer Sirius - Portal. We have made a forum for mods (since the site doesn't have a downloads page). And most of the stuff from the older sites are there, and some new stuff too. The site has a good theme, it's spacy, yet cool. I hope you enjoy it ;) .

Spamming is unsolicited, commercial (read advertising) posts or emails designed to entice others to do something you want them to do ... such as advertising your site trying to entice members here to go there. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you post your site link more than once (6 references in 3 posts!)?

The most usual form is advertising trying to get someone to send money for some real or imagined service or merchandise. Usually the sole purpose on the Spammers part is a transfer of money from the gullible to their pockets. This reason is why I'm so against Spam in any form. I'm just a little suspicious of anyone who seems a little too eager for someone they don't know to do something they wouldn't have done without input from the Spammer.

I'm posting this mainly because you asked the question, not because it matters to me in the least. It has already been stated that TPTB in this forum are OK with your posts, so who am I to continue to object.

As far as I'm concerned though, this forum is more than enough for me. Why should I bother going elsewhere?

Re: Freelancer Sirius

I don't want to be called a spammer, since I'm not one, second, my site isn't a fan site anymore, it's a server (or if you want to call it, a server under contruction). I already have my permenant site and a few people helping me build it. But thats all right now, and Spock, I know you don't like spammers, I can tell by your "short" description of spammers. Freelancer Sirius - Portal. Plus, I don't want to lure people away from this site, I like this site, servers have their own foundation of people, but they come here all the time, my website is just a server now.

Re: Freelancer Sirius

Ok, this is our first official Server Advertisement:

The Freelancer Sirius Server:

Freelancer Sirius: The Server is the new thing for Freelancer Sirius, (as you know, FLS was a community, not a server), our current goal is:
1. Create at least over 100 custom made systems.
2. Edit and make better Existing Systems.
3. New and exciting equipment.
4. New and exotic commodities.
5. New and potentially dangerous factions (some will be more dangerous than Outcasts in Malta).
6. Big Clan Systems (won't count in the 100 custom made systems).
7. New Bases (bases as in new base structures).
8. New and cool custom ships.
9. And a amazing background story (which will be decided later).
FLS is a small project right now (only 3 ppl working on one mod!), so if you want to join our modding team, go here: Here

And check on our progress with the Server's mod here. We hope you enjoy the server and the mod when it comes out. Also here is the initial webpage: Freelancer Sirius - Portal

Re: Freelancer Sirius

Okay sadly our site mentioned above is now gone, lost it after the host shut us down because we couldn't pay for the month. And so I have had a temp site built (a few weeks before the site got killed), it's Freelancer Sirius - Portal. Plus we've made a lot of progress with the mod, but sadly the progress is now unsure because of the site loss. Also to mention, the mod is now a open modding project, if you want to join, you can; if you want to see what we've done, you can; if you just wanna post helpful little comments, you can. I hope to get a site back up soon, but I'm thinking about just keeping this forum, tired of having to change sites. So yeah, to end this post, I'll say this: I got big plans for this mod!
