I found the HEX to increase Jump Hole/Gate Detection Range!

Jump Hole/Jump Gate detection distance in meters (Note: this is the distance that undiscovered objects are added to your MAP, not to your radar/sensor list)
Note: setting greater than 20k appears to have no effect
Note: Appears to have no effect on detection distance of other solar types (E.g. Wrecks/derelicts)

File:
Freelancer.exe

offset:
1ca218

Default (float):
10000

Default (Hex):
00401C46

Now, does anyone know where to Hex-edit to get the wrecks to detect (add to your starmap) at greater range?

14000f in freelancer.exe, 0xd1750 = solar detection radar range ~FriendlyFire

Try this one.

Re: I found the HEX to increase Jump Hole/Gate Detection Range!

Hey, thanks for the tip!

Only problem is, I had tried that, and the the offset or value and/or file appear to be incorrect.

There doesn't appear to be and float of "14000" at that offset or any other in "freelancer.exe" or in the "content.dll".

I found a float of "14000" (HEX: 00C05A46) in "common.dll" at offset 5106f, but it just seems to mess up the graphics rendering engine and has no effect on the discovery range of solars...

FriendlyFire, or whoever, could you check those values again and let me know where you found that?

I'd be much obliged!

It is there, just checked.

You may try to search for d1750 adress.

Re: I found the HEX to increase Jump Hole/Gate Detection Range!

That is the offset I used. There is nothing remotely resembling "14000" at that offset, or anywhere else in the "freelancer.exe".

I'm bewildered! You actually checked, and it is there in your EXE?

I live in America, do you perhaps have a different version??? (if there are different versions). I even scanned the EXE on the retail CD itself--no difference. The file I have is definitely the un-tampered-with EXE from the Retail CD.

At offset d1750:

Float:
"-4.08928042437e+027"

Double:
"-3.75906419858e-174"

Definitely no "14000"

All the other offsets I've checked from the "1.0-1.1_Offsets.txt" file are there--just not that one!

Could someone else verify the d1750 offset in "freelancer.exe"?

(Edit)
Also, the MD5 checksum of my "freelancer.exe" is:

b2dd1663867189d6158b1edb4d70b525 *Freelancer.exe

"Freelancer.exe" creation date:
February 4, 2003 at 12:04:39pm

What is your checksum?

I have seen some patches for cyrillic chat and otherwise... If you're good at programming, you can find and disassemble 'em. M.b. it can help.

I thinked about two versions of my mod - english and russian... But there's one problem. I just can't get an adequate russian version FL  , all this "translations" are making me sick.

Sorry guys, I don't have an offset for languages, but...

I am still waiting to hear if anyone has an answer to my first question.
(If they have an answer to yours, that's great too. But first mine, ok?) ;)

Re: I found the HEX to increase Jump Hole/Gate Detection Range!

Just checked using Hexplorer

I have a couple of disks and some mods

at d1750 for most (but not all the mods)

float 14000.
double -4.76191755507e-284

but also from 2 vanilla with
exe created 04 February 2003, 20:04:39

Float -4.08928042437e+027
Double -3.75906419858e-174

same as you at that offset :)

Is it something to do with the no cd version's of FL that came out later, or the no CD hack some have applied to the file?

Re: I found the HEX to increase Jump Hole/Gate Detection Range!

Thanks Tunicle, at least I know I'm not going senile. ;)

Maybe it's something like you mentioned, that only appears in the mods/no CD hacked versions.

What doesn't make sense though, is that if they found it in order to make those mods, then someone should know! But it's looking like no one does...

I guess I'll just have to keep looking and experimenting and find it myself. I just hope I'm not reinventing the wheel...

I'll post it here if I do find it. Such a hack could be quite useful.

Again, if anyone knows, please enlighten us!

One quick question:

Tunicle, are you saying that there was an "official" version that was a "no CD version"?

If so, I would love to get my hands on it!

Thanks again.

Re: I found the HEX to increase Jump Hole/Gate Detection Range!

There were distributed versions (Ubisoft maybe) that I believe didn't need the CD once installed.

However, see http://the-starport.net/index.php?optio ... _next=prev
