Prequel, but very different. Much, much more like a modern-day fighter game in space than FL. For example, the missiles. You can only carry about six of a missile, not 50. Speeds vary, not in FL. You can shunt power from engines to guns to shields, not in FL. Can only use joystick, not in FL.

In the opening movie to Freelancer, the conflict it talks about between the Alliance and Coalition is the one that Starlancer is based upon. [IMGhttp://img243.echo.cx/img243/5066/darkov219ab.gif[/IMG

Thanks Arrozal, that is really what I wanted to know, but one more question, does SL end like FL begins? I know that you are fighting for the Alliance in SL, but do you lose? that just seems to be a pretty depressing game if you do.

I know that Starlancer is the storyline that leads to humansd going to sirius. But I reckon that the idea that the alliance is going to lose anyway is kinda depressing :-(

well apparently how things work is that the alliance sends sleeper ships to sirus, blah, blah, blah, then when the coalition starts it´s seige on pluto the nomads appear and destroy the SOL sun which creates a massive shockwave which almost destroys everything, except for one person who flys to sirus later to warn the colonists about the nomads, i know it doesn´t really explain much does it?

Dan, I should point out that Nomads did not destroy the Sol system. It happened in an old version of the intro but they cut it out. So I think for all intents and purposes, the Sol system is still there. Since I was looking through the message board, I thought I´d just mention that.

StarLancer does´n´t go until the Exodus. It stops at Jupieter. However, StarLancer is very WW2 fighter-like. Better IMO.

Starlancer begins with a sneak Eastern Coalition attack on the Alliance (after having declared a ceasefire) Then you and your squadron of rookies have to survive and take the fight back to the Coalition. Starlancer has mission goals that directly affect the course of the war - the better you do, the better the Alliance does. The game doesn´t end with the Alliance losing, but you only find out the outcome of the war, which carries on for another 100 years after Starlancer, in the intro to Freelancer. So SL doesn´t have a depressing ending as such, it has quite an upbeat ending. You´re just looking at it from a later perspective. The Nomads were cut from the FL intro because they were simply too powerful an enemy, and the rest of the game´s plot wouldnt make much sense if they could just destroy enemies en masse. Myself I´ve always regretted the lack of further adventures in the Alliance-Coalition War..
