Greetings, thanks for the welcome. I have been reading your forums for some time, just looking for any news on FL, i just really want an updated privateer game so bad. Privateer 1 rocked. Your right, my game idea is a bit much, but it would be awesome to do what we all want in a game and be in control of our destiny whatever it may be.

Yah, we´ve talked about the first person/space sim combo b4. And i would really love that kinda game. It would open up whole new ideas and strategies. Too bad no game has that combo yet. <img src=´http://www.lancersreactor.org/images/news/barkeeper.gif ´>- A Message From Your Friendly Neighbourhood ElectricBrain

excuse me? joystick obsolete? *slap* try telling actual pilots that? The mouse would mean that the pilots skill would be lost. Mouse combat is good for precision aiming but for fast dogfights of star wars proportions you´ll need a joystick. I broke 2 yoysticks playing X-Wing Alliance, thats how vital they are, the dogfights are too hectic to scroll aroud with a mouse. I go with Archon here. While a mouse is fine for on world and first/third person bits, when it comes to dogfighting you just need a joystick. There´s nothing worse than trying frantically to scroll round while your being pasted by enemies. I also think that your man has a great idea there, the problem is just in the implementation. You could always try pitching the idea at someone like DA though. Can you program yourself? Making Quality Slag since 1987

Just another comment. I really like the idea about having your own carrier. OK, you´d have to make it cost LOADS, but it´s the natural progression, once your fighter is really kick-ass. I go with you all the way Troop5, a lot of those things I´ve wanted from space sims for years. Privater 1 was great, but P2 was a bit of a dissappointment Making Quality Slag since 1987

Arcon, you took the words right out of my mouth. Joystick obsolete? What the F@ck!? The LAST thing I want is to get a game where your supposed feel (total immersion right?) like your in the actual cockpit of your liberty (insert your own ship here) fighter and suddenly find out that instead of a comfortable grip joystick I´ve got fly with a f@cking mouse! Don´t get me wrong, I love my mouse for FPS can´t get any better but for a fighter game that come across as weak and pathetic. I don´t know too many pilots that fly by mouse!!!! The joystick has the right feel for a fighter ship and I´ll be damned if I´m going to use anything else. (before anyone rushes to tell me that the mouse plays an essential role in FL I am aware of that and its one of my biggest concerns but as I understand it the joystick will still be supported and consequentially what I will use.) The mouse for a fighter game? WTF were they thinking? Alright, I´ve had my spiel, I´ll calm down now. I´m not trying to offend anyone or their suggestions and I understand why DA is using this mouse based console so as to eliminate the endless turning and spinning in deathmatches but if the joystick isn´t in it then I´ll be pissed! (On a big side note, I used to fully support the mouse for every fighter game I played. I played Wing Commander I and II on my trusty mouse and it was a hell of a lot of fun. I also played Tie Fighters using my mouse, once again lots of fun, but ever since those games I´ve preferred a joystick, funny isn´t?) <img src=´http://dba.gamepoint.net/images/mssig.gif ´> The Major.

Most of you sound like you don´t have a clue as to how the mouse control operates. Instead of babying you, go see if you can find out for yourself.

I know how the mouse works, Tach, its allows some freedom in your flight by also allowing for preprogrammed flight maneuvers but until I get to test it I´m going to remain skeptical. <img src=´http://dba.gamepoint.net/images/mssig.gif ´> The Major.

Well, it´s nice to be given the option of using the mouse. SL didn´t have it at all, and there really isn´t too much excuse for why not. If you want to play with a joystick that´s fine by me, but how about a little consideration for those who do not? Gentlemen...Ramming speed!

Yes, all three options should be included. Keyboard, mouse and joystick. And im pretty sure the joystick will be included in the game as they ha0ve said it b4 in interviews. Ive always prefered the mouse as opposed to the joystick. I like having accuracy and total control. <img src=´http://www.lancersreactor.org/images/news/barkeeper.gif ´>- A Message From Your Friendly Neighbourhood ElectricBrain

Yes, the mouse does provide accuracy, however, the joystick provides the &quot;feel&quot; and the smooth turning control. I get tired of the sliding of the mouse... <img src=´http://dba.gamepoint.net/images/mssig.gif ´> The Major.

You won´t have to. The neuronet turns your ship, and you aim and manage your ship. If you have to pick up your mouse and move it, you need to up the sensitivity <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

Well i didnt mean to insult anyone about the joystick subject. Im just saying, there can be ways to improve mouse play because its more accurate to aim than a joystick. They could add like a targeting crosshair you move around the screen, or button toggle to activate it, and when you went a certain direction all the way, it would boost the sensitivity, thus turning faster. That would reduce constant mouse movement, which is the only downfall of mouse flight. My objection isnt really the joystick, but the option of not including mouse flight. Thats why i enjoy FreeSpace 2. Great game.

I don´t know. I loved Freespace 2, but the mouse controls left me dead in space. Even ramping the sensitivity all the way up (probably to 11 on the dial<img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>) I still couldn´t get anywhere with it. Had to resort to keys in the end. Did alright though. Gentlemen...Ramming speed!

Joystick for me all the way. But I will try the mousesupport when Ive picked up Freelancer in the stores. Maybe I wont have any option if DA dont implant joy support. I dont think the mouseapproach will impress me. Hopes are that DA will include joy support. I cant imagine me playing Freelancer without my Forcefeedback Pro Joy. <img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Your ideas are great, and I cant have put them down better myself. But to introduce so much into a spacesim lays decades ahead into the future. Anyway, it would truly rock the spacesim genre, to see such a game on a pc. It would nearly be as living in your own fantasy universe where you find your own space, time and freedom. But for now. Lets wait for Freelancer. <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> I Rule!!!!!

I´m not saying I´m against the mouse. Far from it I think it´s great for some games, but I just want to avoid the endless scrolling. It´ll be interesting to see how this Neuro-Net thing actually works as it sound a really revolutionary idea. I just hope it adds to the fun rather than taking it away. As I said before, the idea rocks! This man has vision, but do you think we´ll still be using PC´s by then, or will everything be owned by Bill Gates. LOL =D Making Quality Slag since 1987
