Frontierspace Freelancer Mod 1.75

Frontierspace is a Mod for Freelancer that has been in development for more than 3 years. It is aimed at, a high level of difficulty, give the players lots of choices, and has a number of secrets scattered around.
Liberty has also been re-designed and in doing so the single player story had to be removed. In this new version, Open Singleplayer is integrated into the Mod so there is no need to install the Open Singleplayer addon like before. When activating the Mod there are many options for the starting location, reputation and a choice of starting money.


For Multiplayer, there is also a large number of options for server operators which also set the different details.


Players can also fly most capital ships, transports, trains and repair ships.
Prison ship encounters in a number of locations.
Luxury Liner encounters in a number of locations.
Long range courier jobs for different factions all with a single destination.
Long range destroy missions by means of destroyable solar targets and info commodities that give the location of the target.
In this version there are more definite trade routes between most major bases, all very profitable.
There is also a hidden quest in the mod.
Larger ship weapons are much more energy efficient and have a longer range.
Most NPC big ships have cruise disruptors.
Hundreds of ships.
Lots of new factions.
Lots of new systems, including a few new ones for Frontierspace v1.75.
Hundreds of new bases.

In order to play single or multiplayer, activate the client mod part of the mod. The server operator is only for running a server, for joining servers you should not activate this file.


The server operator is for extra options in setting different details of the player start. You don't actually have to install this one, it is just an optional upgrade.


Make sure that any saved games, the autosave and restart.fl are removed from your saved game folder - C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Singleplayer and Multiplayer - as they contain faction data for other games before running Freelancer.

Included are the Ioncross data files for the Ioncross Server Operator, the files needed for FLShell and the Frontierspace v1.74 Universe map.


Tested with the Freelancer SDK v1.3 installed and Activated using the Freelancer Mod Manager version 1.3.

*** Changes for Frontierspace 1.75 ***
01. Another bug hunt mostly, there was a number of problem areas in the 1.74 release almost all of which were affected by a dodgey encounter file.
02. Modified the abilities of capital ships and weapons (still very expensive though).
03. Increased payout of random missions to give more at the higher levels.
04. Added more definite trade routes between major bases for those who like long haulage and better pay. In both commodities and cargo pods.
05. Added a few new bases in the likes of Tohoku, Omega-3 and Hudson.
06. Added a new system "Orphelia", a Jetan vs Nomad capital ship warzone with jumpholes to Omicron Major, Lucifer and BD-946.
07. Added a few new ships, including quite a few by Mancer and the Bulldog and Doberman by myself.
08. I've gone through all of the ship icons and commodity icons and remade them with unique archetype entries (so they no longer have the same image bug).
09. Updated the FLShell and IFSO data files.
10. Removed the Eastern Coalition ships as I had a few comments about them being low poly and a bit basis. The Eastern Coalition now use a combination of Zoner and Borderworld ships (at least for the time being until replacements can be made).
11. Added a few more base traffic, look to the skies..
12. All capital ships have engines that give twice the force of before. So they have a max of around 64 now.
13. All freighters and some transports have 150% cargo capacity of before.
14. All Battleship weapons now use no energy.
15. All Transports/Utility classed weapons use 67% of previous power usage.
16. All Train/Gunboat and Cruiser classed weapons use 50% of previous power usage.

*** Changes for Frontierspace 1.74 ***
Quite a few changes made, some minor and some major. Some of the biggest changes are:
01. The ability to fly the very large vessels.
02. The armor of the larger ships has been increased a great deal, as has their cost.
03. All other ships are more expensive too. As a general rule, the hull cost of a ship has tripled so it takes longer to become established with a top level ship.
04. Frontierspace now has a unique version number to make finding servers easier.
05. There is an Admin Interceptor using the Phantom ship model and a variety of Peacekeeping, weapons to go along side it.
06. I have reduced the weapon modifier a bit too owing to feedback from a few players saying it was a bit unforgiving.
07. I've re-done all of the custom icons with unique archetype names so there is no clashes where you can see the wrong pic for the icon. Other modders can use these if you want to. I've done the gun icons too, to match their archetype.
08. There's an Event System now too reachable from Phiagre with an Admin base, zoner base and two other bases belonging to custom team factions who are fighting each other. You attack your enemies defenses and vessels to gain points which the admin count up at the end of the battle.
The Teams use Imperial Special Forces and Federal Special Forces (i.e. very hard), but you can mod the ships server-side if you want to.
09. Jetan have been remade and they have been given an additional class of ship, the Corvette".
Aimed as a cross between of a VHF and a gunboat and just small enough to use berths, they are slightly smaller in size to the armored transport.
10. The nomad fighter can dock at bases now.
11. A couple of new bases scattered around. Omicron Minor is open too now.
12. New Intro thnn scripts.
13. New base-side traffic for custom factions. Not every planet, but quite a few.
14. Changed the laser effect to be more tidy.
15. Changed the existing turrets from 1-10 to 1-5. Their abilities remain the same, but the classes 6-10 are used for the larger ships. It means though that freighters that could have a class 3, 5 or 7 turret can now mount a weapon class higher than before.

Navmap background - I'd rather that nobody reused the texture map for this, just so that the mod is still unique. Its not very hard to do anyway.


As far as using models that I've modified/created. Any models that aren't of my original design remain the property of the initial model's creators. Whatever their rules are the rules still, so usually either ask permission or give full credit depending on the creator. Any ships that I've created completely can be used as long as you give the credit and don't turn them into anything completely stupid. I loathe boxes on wheels with 20 class 10 weapons, so please try to use them in a respectful way.


If you feel that I should have given credit to you, but haven't, please let me know and I'll update the credit list for the most recent version of the mod.
If you have any comments on the mod, problems found or ideas for possible upgrades, post on TLR new mod announcement. Theres a thread on there for that sort of thing. I plan to keep updating as long as it takes to get rid of any major problems or annoyances, until I begin work on my next project.

Commodity/Ship icons- These have all been done with unique archetypes. Feel free to use them, you might want to check out the gun icons (you can see how the gun will look before you mount it to the ship).


I've done all the ship icons and in some cases re-done existing icons. If I re-did your icon, please don't be offended, it was just easier to do all of them without checking, there was so many of them to do.
