The Great Pirate War

  • Ch. 16

It became dark quickly, I looked at my watch, 10:00 A.M., weird, it wasn't near night. I looked outside my house, there was a purpleish tint to the ground and sky. What the?

I looked outside my window, up at the sky, then I choked on my breakfast. The nomad battleship is here! I screamed in my head. I picked up my portable comm. Miguél picked up instantly.

"What is it, José?" he asked.

"Look at the sky," I said simply.

    "What?" he asked, annoyed.

    "Look up!" I yelled.

"Holy!" he yelled, "What is that?!"

"It's the Outcasts Nomad Battleship!" I yelled, I grabbed my equipment and grabbed my leather jacket, put on my Corsair Ensignia and ran out the door, toward the hanger.

I saw Miguél and some other Corsairs scrambling around the hanger deck, entering their fighters and launching. I looked up, the Nomad battleship was within the atmosphere, heading right towards us. I found my Titan and taking off.

"All fighter wings, check in," I said into the comm.

    "Corsair Gamma, checking in."

    "Corsair Zeta, checking in."

    "Corsair Beta, checking in."

"Everyone, split and attack, Gamma, head for the engines; Zeta, go for the bridge; Beta, go for the sheild generator," I ordered. I flipped and began to attack Outcasts Sabres, "me and Alpha wing will take care of the fighters." I followed a stilitto, firing nomad cannons, it's sheilds were strong for a stillito, I thought. I then shot a Starkiller Torpedo, blowing the ship up. I did a barrel roll and attacked the hull of the nomad battleship, doing much damage.

Then I felt a creaking noise as a laser hit the rear of my ship. I aimed my rear turret and blasted the Outcasts's coc-pit window out. It exploded in brilliant white light.

"Continue the attack, bombard the Elders Conference Center, over there," General Gonzalez ordered from the Outcasts Battleship in orbit of Crete, the vessel was equipped with amazing space to ground cameras, capable of searching for targets. Then I turned the camera, I saw a titan racing up at the battleship. Uh Oh, Gonzalez thought. Then a voice came into the comm.

"Hello, Gonzalez," the voice said, I recognize that voice!, José!

    "José!" he said.

"Time to die, Gonzalez," José said coldly. Then a torpedo was launched, heading right at the bridge, killing everyone inside.

I turned around, Now that Gonzalez is out of the way, time to blow the Nomad ship to smithers. I flew down, shooting Nomad Torpedos, the most dangerous torpedos of all. The engine part blew off, falling into a small ocean. Then shot the bridge, probally killing everyone on board. The ship fell, the ground then rushed up to greet the ship. It exploded in a great ball of gas, which later dissapeared. Whew... I then landed, where a crowd of Corsairs waited. The war was almost over.

"José, Malta has fallen, we have won against them, the Hessians are dead. We have won the war!" Miguél said as I climbed out of the cocpit.

    "What!? Really?!" I yelled.

"Yep." he said back, excitedly. The war is over... Peace can return. Oh Yeah!!! I thought. We then walked off, leaving behind the burning remains of the Nomad Capital Ship...

  • I'm planning to make a sequel to this story, but the chapters will be longer, so I'll have to write it on a wordpad on my computer, don't expect the first chapter to come out till maybe next week. I've came up with a preveiw though of a part of it:

"Where am I?" the man asked as he began to stand up.

"Where do you think?" I said to the man, his uniform seemed older, like the ones the men from the Hispania Colony Ship used to wear.

"I don't know, I remember being on a ship, then I was here," the man said.

"What year is it?" I asked him.

    "2678 A.D." he said...

  • Ch. 1

I walked out of my apartment in the Redlight District of Crete, I stare south, where the fallen Outcast Nomad Ship lays like a tomb. Closer you get to the wreck, the feeling of death grows. I knew that no one will ever set foot within the battleship, it's a permenant reminder of The Great Pirate War. The war that lasted a year.

"Hey, Jose," I saw Miguel coming down the sidewalk, obviously going to his house, since he goes to the CHQ (Corsair Headquarters), where the tracking of the Outcasts takes place. Massive amounts of Nomad Battleships have been radared in the Omicron Zeta System. But they never left there.

"Hey, Miguel, where you going?" I asked him.

"The tavern, been a hard day, watching those Outcast Battleships in Zeta," he said with a sigh. I understood what he meant, my squad was sent to Zeta, to spy on the Outcasts ship to ship. But it was hard not to be spotted, we had to stay withen the sensor shorting nebula nearby. A surprising Kusari-based nebula, unlike the normal Edge Nebula, the nebula was good for us since the Edge Nebula would've eaten our ships away.

"Can I come man? I haven't had a Sindwinder Fang since before the war," I asked while I complained. He nodded, and began to walk, I followed shortly behind. It was different after the war, most of the time, we don't have to worry about the Outcasts, but we always keep a eye on them since they attacked us at the end of the war. We walked down the redlighted streets of Glenios Avenue, the home of many pubs, taverns, and bars; often called the Beer Hood.

"Have any of the Outcasts left Zeta?" I asked Miguel as we walked up to Miguel's favorite tavern.

"They haven't dared to leave yet, but we built a star base near the Jumphole, also we posted Titans to watch the hole with turret platforms nearby," he said as we walked toward Miguel's house. Things seem different after the war... Why arn't the Outcasts attacking? I wondered. But yet, I still didn't know the answer. Are they making a army? I thought. It seemed like it, since the little guys seemed to stay in Zeta, maybe massing a army. Might as well check for myself. I thought.

"Miguel, I'm going to spy on them, see what they're up to, but I'll need a squadren," I said finally.

"I know some guys, really first-grade material, they're at the HQ, let's go," he said as we turned and ran toward the headquarters.

  • Ch. 2

We walked up into the HQ, and into the private hanger, where the guys Miguel suggested waited for us. We walked up to them, they saw us, and stood up. "Hey Miguel," one of them said.

"Hey guys, this is General Jose," Miguel replied to the man, then to me, "That guy is Knife," he pointed at the guy who talked, "he's A12," he pointed to a man, "and that's HunterKiller, they're codenames. Knife is the combat specialist, A12 is the hacker, and HunterKiller is a professional tracker, like a bounty hunter, except for criminals, he's also good with heavy weaponry," They looked at me, as if examining me with a x-ray machine.

"Guys, Jose is the legend from The Great Pirate War, he's the one that destroyed that Nomad ship outside in the fields," Miguel continued.

"Welcome to the team, Jose," Knife said politely, "always good to meet a legend," looming behind the team was Titans, fully equipped with the best weapons available in Sirius.

"Ready to go?" I asked the team.

"Yeah," they all replied, they ran to a Titan and lifted off, I ran toward my Titan, at the other end of the hanger. Now it's time to see what those Outcasts are up to.

  • Ch. 3

We came out of the secret Jump gate at 0200 hours, inside the sensor-shorting nebula. We charged our cruise engines and headed for the edge, just inside the nebula, so we don't show up on radar.

"OK, everyone, take up visual scanning, just in case they have fighter in the nebula," I ordered over the comm.

"Yes, sir," Knife replied. We were then in the edge, I looked out at a star base, a shipyard, a few weapons platforms, and several fighters and of course, the Nomad Warships. No wonder they're not moving that much, they're building they're army. I thought. Then something happened. The fighters and the Nomad Warships then began to rocket toward us.

"What the hell?" A12 gasped as the Sabres flew into the nebula.

"Battle Positions!" I yelled into the comm and jerked my Titan to the right, missing a Sabre's approach my mere inches. I cut my engine and turned around, then turned the engine on again. I rocketed toward the Sabre, firing Sunslayer Torpedoes, which upon impact, blew the Sabre apart. I turned, just in time to hear the "Missile Incoming." voice from my ship's Neural Net. I evade the missile as if it was as slow as a turtle. I turn around and fire Nomad Cannons at it, which made it explode into a ball of gas.

"There's too many!" I hear HunterKiller scream, "We need to retreat!"

"Retreat through the Jump gate!" I yell. I turned the ship and rocketed toward the Jump gate. We went through it together, to reduce the time to escape. We came out in Omicron Theta. How did they detect us? I wish I'll soon find out...

  • Ch. 4

Jose landed his Titan on Crete's surface, the failure of the Omicron Zeta was fresh in my mind, How the hell did they find us so quickly? I just don't get it. I thought as I headed for the bar, where I was gonna meet up with Miguel.

"I don't know how it happened," Jose told Miguel at Pedro Alonso's Bar. Miguel stared at him, obviously thinking something.

"I don't understand how they detected you without entering 2000 meters away from you guys, you were in the nebula, yet the detected you, perhaps they know something we don't," he said at last.

"I don't know, but things change over time, maybe we'll figure it..." a man came up to me.

"You Jose, right?" the man asked.

    "Yeah," I answered.

"My name is Fox, I am a leader of a group of Corsairs, known as the TFL Pirates, we have been watching the Outcasts in Zeta in another nebula near the nebula you were in, we were able to pick up radio chatter from the Outcasts, they were expecting you to be there, that's how they found you so quickly," the man that called himself Fox said.

"Makes sense," Miguel said to Jose.

"I just don't get it, why would they be expecting us, the Corsairs made every single notion to keep our spying secret," I said then.

"We got ourselves a Mole somewhere," Miguel said angrily. I turned my head toward the newcomer.

"We need you to go back to Zeta and listen to them some more, tell us what they're up to, can you do this?" I asked him.

"Sure man, as long as I can get some Corsairian Rum," Fox said, and grabbed a bottle of rum from Pedro, and left the bar. I turned back to Miguel.

"Now we need to find that Mole," I said.

"Yeah, maybe we should make a decoy freighter convoy, heading into Zeta, which will be carrying Station building supplies, if there is a Mole in the Corsair HQ, this will lure him out, we'll send two battleships and a fleet of Titans, lead by us to a remote sector in one of the Zeta Nebulae, if we are attacked, the Mole exists and it is one of the people we told, if no one attacks, we'll continue and build a station, which we'll do either way, but we need to lure out this Mole, and kill him, swiftly."

"Good plan, I'll tell Knife to get the ships ready for launch," I said and left the bar.

"Jose, what's going on, a huge fleet of our ships is leaving, with station supplies," Knife said as I entered the hanger.

"We're trying to lure a Mole in our group out, and kill him, I'll tell you more details in space," I said. He nodded and ran for his Titan, I did the same, we took off and got ready.

  • Ch. 5

We entered the Omicron Zeta System at 0300 hours, where we planned to invade.

"OK, listen up, Beta Squadron will head to the Outcast's Base and do some damage, and divert the Outcasts so we can move in, if we are attacked, we'll have to be swift to stay alive, those Nomad Starships will rip us to shreds." Miguel said, we were aboard the Battleship Corsair, the biggest and best Flagship under the control by the Corsairs. Miguel was telling us of his plan. Knife stood by me, he looked scared, as if he knew something bad was going to happen, a premonition? I asked myself.

"We'll need to be careful, according to info that we got from scouting the system, the Outcasts have regularly checked the nebulae since we were detected last week. So be careful out there, an attack is highly possible," I added.

"Good luck," Miguel finished, for some reason, I started to feel that we needed luck.

I took off from the battleship, Knife and the others followed me to a nebulae, where we'll join up with Beta Squadron. And help in the attack on their base. I felt that it was a suicide mission attacking their base, cause of the Nomad ships which will increasingly amp up the difficulty of the mission. I felt like this may be an end to our fleet, but we may still win against those things. We finally made it to the nebula and met up with Beta.

"Hey, Admiral Jose, we're ready to engage the base," Beta leader sent me a message.

"Good, let's get moving, we don't want to spend to much time in one spot, then they'll be able to detect us better," I replied. We turned and began to head to the coordinates where the Outcast's base is, "When we leave the Nebula, we need to move as fast as we can, cause out there, they will detect us."

"Understood," Knife replied. We activated our cruise engines and headed for the coordinates. When we left the nebula, we flew very fast, engaging our super cruise engines, which were built at Tripoli Shipyard. They go at least 2 times faster than normal cruise engines. We reached their base and shut down the cruise engine, I did a barrel roll and headed for the nearest fighter.
