  • But the strategy guide costs money!!!!! <img src=smilies/icon_smile_shock.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> lol &quot; You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose, but you cant pick your friend´s nose.&quot; Edited by - Drunk Ewok on 28-04-2003 23:01:15

  • Actually, I agree with you, Glock. Unfortunately, like the Drunk Ewok said, it costs money. I would hope that if the game does well sales-wise(even without the proceeds from the strategy guide), an expansion would still be added. That and the sheer customer outcry should warrant it. And if they don´t, a mob of unruly, dissatisfied gamers will go to Seattle and storm Bill´s Gate. The difficult we do immediately; the impossible just takes longer.

  • MS is indeed a very rich corp, and for one reason alone: not investing in non-profitable projects. Let´s face it: rich or not, Bill Gates will keep channeling his charities to Aids or some other diseases or disadvantaged kids etc, not to a bunch of gamers who want a free sequel.

  • I have the &quot;strategy guide&quot; and I´m sorry but for a guide it dosen´t tell you D!(@ If I had a nickel for every time someone told me that my idea of building a giant robotic parrot out of melted down coins was a bad idea, I would have one kick a$$ giant robotic parrot.

  • Hairfarmer. Yep, as a matter of fact, I wrote the first review of the book. I never went back to the site to see if they posted it or not though. It´s badly organized, does not tell you anything about a lot of stuff, and does not answer some of the questions I had at the time about things. As for Microsoft having a lot of money, yes they do, and as someone said, they do because they do what is profitable, not what is popular. One thing about Freelancer that mimics real life is that the criminals have all the best equipment. LOL. Thank You Glock 36 Asset Recovery R US

  • Might I add that M$ seems to deliver games to both X-Box and PC even though some of the titles that they keep on X-Box is more suited to the PC. Now that the rambling is over. My point is; That if M$ think a game is highlly profitable, why dont we put it on the X-Box instead. Just look at what happend when they optained the Mechwarrior license from FASA? X-Box only and the game had done so well in the past on PC´s. IMO M$ is only about one thing. Milking the market of all the best things out there. I have and never will buy a console no matter what for 2 reasons. 1; To expensive. 2; I cant figure out the controll´s. I just dont hope that it happens to any further exp to freelancer. This game is to good to be Console only.

  • Hasn´t anyone figured out that 99% of the strategy guides, are NOT written by the devs or anyone else at that company? People like us write the strategy guides. I forget who published it, it was either Brady Games, or Sybex, or Primus...or something...NONE of which are actually MS companies that I know of. So NOT buying the strategy guide is NOT hurting MS. It´s hurting the publisher. Besides..&gt;From all that I have read...in this forum and other places...The &quot;Official&quot; Strategy Guide isn´t worth the $20. You disagree? Call my lawyer at 1-800-RYP-OFF1. lol -Arg <img src=´http://www2.arkansas.net/~jkeas/images/arg1.jpg ´> <A href=´http://www.somethingawful.com´ Target=_Blank>Something Awful</a>

  • It´s conceivable that purchasing the strategy guide might in some roundabout way send a couple pennies in MS´s direction (for the guide to be &quot;official&quot; it has to have the endorsement of the publisher, which equals some low percentage of profits). <i>However </i>, you can make a much bigger impact on the profitability of Freelancer, and thus on the likelyhood of a sequel and/or expansion, by making sure to contribute to the word-of-mouth sales of the game. Pass the word on that the game is worthwhile and that a reasonable demo is downloadable if someone wants to try before they buy.

  • If you have reached lvl 38 by flying a fighter you dont need a strat guide any more. Stop reading this signature, and do something usefull, like playing Freelancer.

  • It was written by Sybex by people who worked on the game. I´m sure Microsoft gets some money from each book because they &quot;allowed&quot; it to be published in the first place. And if I hadn´t gotten the Strategy Guide, I might not have gotten to level 38. But all comments made here have a point. I´d like to say that in starting this thread, I did not mean to include those who are working on Mods or tools for Mods. I think that stuff is great. And I really am not against passing on info. I´ve done it myself on this an another site. My point was simply that Microsoft is in it for the money and the sales determine whether there will be a sequel or not. If not, the the Mod makers will take the game to the next level without Microsoft. So really, If there are a lot of Mod makers out there, I guess Microsoft might take that into consideration too. Thanks for being so polite, all of you. This was just meant to be a discussion. Thank You Glock 36 Asset Recovery R US

  • I got the strategy guide, but after getting to lvl38 I kind of wish I hadn´t. Having all the maps, stats etc already there makes it a lot quicker to find everything and spoils the discovery. In the later missions I put the book away ´cos I found when I knew what was going to happen it was´nt very exciting to get through the mission. Still, each to his own, you can use it or not however you think best. And I´m sure with all the hype before the game was released Microshaft have made a big enough profit. Bill Gates gets like $1m an hour. If that was me, I wouldn´t go for lunch. And taking a half day would cost a fortune.

  • I belive you that you are not working for Microsoft but I think you are working for Sybex. <img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

  • Actually the guide is useful. Alot of what i found in there i couldnt find here. Plus i would have to print these spoilers and check the net. that would cause me to log out and quit the game. also several of these &quot;hints&quot; are not print friendly

  • Damn! I forgot to mention that I do not work for Sybex or any marketing firm. I just don´t play video games too much and I got addicted to this damn thing like a drug and I really care about getting the next episode. My friends are beginning to worry and are planning an &quot;intervention&quot; and &quot;deprogramming&quot;, I can tell. They are all looking at me funny. It´s very suspicious. I´m gonna lock the door to my room. And I´m 49 years old, so that´s pretty serious. Thank You Glock 36 Asset Recovery R US
