Graphics card help

 • Look for an ATI 9700 or 9200. I´ve been using the 9700 pro for about 2 years now, and have no reason to change it. Also, IMHO, ATI has better driver support, and I simply like the picture quality more, to me it´s much more clear and the colors are more defined. I had several GeForce cards before I switched over. Both of the cards you mentioned are fine value cards though.

 • To complete the confusion, I personally would always prefer nVidia over ATI - but that´s based on personal experience with the quality of their products and their respective support.

 • I´m afraid a graphics card over 50-60 dollars is a graphics card I won´t be getting. I´ve survived this long without one, and since I don´t purchase new games anymore for my computer (if I have any money laying around it goes towards my PS2), I´m just looking for something to make the oldies I do have run a bit smoother. Somehow I knew I´d get responses from both sides. Thanks for the advice, even though its on the contradictory side.

 • Well I guess this means you are not even looking at a X800 XT or a 6800 Ultra
