Don´t know the exact solution, but there has been some discussion going on about the problem before. Try browsing through earlier threads - maybe you find out something. Good luck.

heres something i´ve used to get older games to work. right click on the starlancer executables and click properties now click on the compatibility tab. in the combatibility mode box.. select windows 85 from the drop down and check the ´run this program in compatibility mode for:´ button. hope that helps <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Edit: yeah yeah... nail me for the typo....
