Expansion Ideas

  • Yeah... there are some other things I would add... Like: 1. More missions - not only ´blow sth up´ or ´kill someone´ or ´bring into custody´, but also escort missions or special deliveries - someone remember good ol´ Frontier? 2. Better com system - ask for help, threat someone (if ya like bein´ bad), hiring wingmen... 3. TOUGHER CAPSHIPS! C´mon, all those cruisers destroyed by two fighters... 4. Landing fees (it´s not much, but it certainly is more realistic) 5. autofiring turrets!! That´s it for now <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

  • a better trade sceen please I´d prefer something that looks a little excel/elite style it´s easier for me to see what´s what then and an auto pilot of some kind.... having to babysit the ship on one of the longer trade routes is a painful thing...

  • How about some more depth. Don´t get me wrong I´ve enjoyed it but it is rather shallow unlike Elite. I concur with more variations on missions and the comms thing. Also, how about being able to blow up stations etc. Better AI for enemies, it´s pretty predictable and terrible. Thats all...for now.

  • how about dynamic prices in the tradesystem? .. boring with static stuff in games imho <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> .. now it´s just up to the developers to find out a good way to make it work in a reasonable way..   • They definitely need to add the ability to form groups and trade when you´re on planets and stations, provided the person you want to ally/trade with is on the same station as you. It is -so- annoying when you and a friend launch into space and you´re trying to set up a group or trade and you get interrupted by a marauding band of pirates. You have to stop what you´re doing, kill them and then start again. Often another batch shows up before you´re finished and messes it up again, too. What´s more, it just plain makes more sense to do that on land anyway.

  • I´d like to be able to &quot;paint&quot; my ship. For example, the main color could be changed like it was in the NFS series (just by adjusting bars) - after that, you can place markings on the ship that are either prefabs or made by yourself and uploaded. I think it´s kind of stupid that you are flying the Border Worlds Colors after buying a Sabre even if you are working for the Navy now (e.g., the Wehrmacht in WW2 used repainted Shermans, the Allies put their star on captured Kübelwagen etc.).

  • I´d like it if you could buy new identities (transponder signals if you will) so that you could change it if your on the run from the law (to make it functional they´d have to only last a short ammount of time and cost a fortune) but it would add something that the game lacks.

  • Dude, how about more control for admins, better logs, mod blocking etc. I agree with the repaint idea. hmm..... how about, uhm, err persistant groups, clan support, renaming chars, tougher lanes, uhm, yer. Clan support (coupled with more character profile opts) would definately be cool, - instead of just stuff addad onto names, you could have like the faction prefixes and stuff. You shud be able to name your ship, customise it more, skin your character*. All in all making the game more varied, and having more unique characters. Another more complex idea would be seeing each other in pubs. *changing model, voice, etc. Hmmm, maybe you could change the tint of ur windscreen, have custom decals, have slider style ship recolor. The blowing up stations would be good, but very hard to make. They would have to respawn. Uhhm uh, maybe transfering money and items between characters could be better. A swap ship feature. Ahh! Better screenshots - hides hud, better camera angles! A ship shot mode where you can freely rotate and move the camera! Maybe multiple crew ships or summing. Bigger ships - that´d be cool . Ah! a garage of ships, - mounted on a chooseable home base! uhh... Maybe clans could buy their own base. Yup, clans would have to be treated like factions. Ooh, more ideas are coming... maybe you could have persistant corporaration, where players get to pick ships from the corps. base. Moderators and stuff - means that the admin dont have to be online to get rid of that pesky modder. The messaging could be improved, a clan message, a contact list, smaller font etc. Whoa, this came out in a rush!

  • Mission types: -Transport escort missions for corporations -Hijacking missions for criminal groups -Cardamine and Artifact smuggling for outcasts and Corsairs -Transport missions for corporations (they pay you to haul stuff) -Border raids (E.G. Liberty navy sends you to rheinland to kill a cap. ship) -Bounty Hunters board with a list of most wanted criminals, stipulations to capture(alive or dead) the bounty posted, and where to take them to collect Creating Factions: Let players pay to have a station built (say 50-60 mil.). Start a faction there that players only can join. All weapons and commodities must be brought there by faction members (Piracy of course). Of course the faction would set the prices on everything. Players bringing items to the station get half of the price of the goods when they sell them. Imagine a place to buy black market CODENAME: weapons! Or also equipment requiring a rep with criminals. Imagine a base in NY where noobs could buy Drails, Scorpions, or barragers or outcast pyros for defenders immediately into the game. Of course this base, unlike other &quot;permanent&quot; bases would be vulnerable to torpedoes, to open the possibility for clan warfare. And of course any Expansion should have about 30 more ships, and about 30-40 hours of single player story missions

  • Kirghiz, that would be amazing if they could do that!!! I agree completly. Something I´d like to see would be to be able to join a faction and actually make a difference, like where you could join the Rheinland military and or Liberty Navy and those two have a war and you can be in the decievse battle etc.......would be interesting to see if you didn´t stay close to what your &quot;Tactics&quot; are then you´d lose or something..........hmm........just thinking aloud. <i>&quot;You Don´t Wanna Dance With Me!&quot; </i>

  • I would like to be in charge of an entire fleet of ships. Something like: You control a faction you made and you can buy Cruisers and Fighters and such and give them a battle plan and you can either be on the flagship and control things there or be in your own fighter and fight with your troops. It would give a more realistic feel to the fighting (not to mention it would be totally cool!).

  • or maybe make a persistant server such as in EQ and other games where the universe is more flexible and events could be made (such as a war) Kirghiz, one game (i read in a preview but forgot the name) lets you build stations and run them and it would be sweet if you could build one in FL... just hope the server doesn´t go down

  • Personally I think it would br nice to be able to purchase a battleship so you can own more than 1 ship. That way if you wanted to do some cargo runs you wouldnt have to sell you very heavy fighter or whatever for a carog ship, you could just have them all at your battleship.

  • i think all of your opinions sounds good but it sounds more like a massive multiplayer online game insteed. But u never know and i really hope that a expansion will come out with these fixtures u have mentioned. That would be freaking dope!!! go girls! newer seen ur face before

  • God, Freelancer is just ripe for an extension/sequel i.e. more on nomads, the elusive 5th colony ship the espania, or the creators of the hypergates could appear!! I just hope that they include the following: - Ability to hire wingmates for a mission or trade run or as long as they stay alive. - Ability to buy and control capital ships or a whole fleet. - Ability to establish you own base that you can hire people to defend, build weapon platforms, get a percentage of all trade on your base etc. - Faction missions that are like the guild quests for Morrowind i.e. a story in their own right. Also you should be able to become a faction leader with benefits such as bodyguards, free weapons, loot from anything the faction does, the ability to actually fight with an entire ai fleet with you in a capital ship against another faction. - Ability to actually be evil and have no one find out. If you are in a nebula where sensors can´t pick you up you should have no ill reputation efects if you take out a freighter. AHHH..If only.... - A storyline that doesn´t push you on i.e. you take the story missions whenever you want to not after a certain amont of money has been made. - Ability to create your own ship in game. - Ability to buy a shield or box or something that conseals what you are carrying so you can do illegal runs without getting spotted in a scan. I could go on and on and on...........................and on ........................................ and on.........

  • yes, though: A sequel would definetly have to have youre own base where u can have a hangar full of your ships and where u can hire wingmen at the bar. You could work with factions and ´rise through the ranks´ ex.: you could work with liberty navy and after so many mission you would rise in rank after being, say, admiral, and you would command a battleship and order lower ranking npc´s to do stuff for you...

  • How about: -More balanced ships. For example, if the liberty ships could have really nice shields, while rheinland have really heacy armor, and corsairs could have really fast normal and cruise. Just so that a Defender can hold its own against a Titan, with each one having advantages/disadvantages and are evenly matched. -Have light fighters, medium fighters (the current heavy fighters) and heavy fighters (the current vhf class). Then there could me more of everything, -Upgradeable parts (power cores, controls etc) -Adjustable cruise speed, from base 500 to max 1500 (you can do 500 indefinitely, and anything above that uses afterburner energy reserve at different rates depending on speed) - Have differences be more subtle between classes of fighters. (lf is faster, hf can´t turn for sh#t) - Decent looking cockpit, even if not interactive. The option to look around cockpits, even as a nice touch. -Space hazards. Collapsing jumpholes (with warnings, of course), unknown black holes. -Long sp, against coalition or dom cavash. -Real nomad systems. -Advanced flying (more sim like on &quot;realism&quot; servers) -anti-cheat -more involved missions (you are tasked to find so and so, last seen in system so and so, go to system, get rumors, and then have atleast 2 ways to finish that mission. More rpg like in that sense.) -Better looking ships. As it stands: 1. Rheinland ships, civilian hawk, falcon, eagle, and liberty defender look nice. As do the border world ships. 2. Bretonia, Kusari ships look dumb, as do corsairs and pirates and junkers and liberty patriot. Give them better, and more ships. -Pilotable battleships, gunboats, trains, etc. -The ability to manually land/fly around on planets/planetary missions.
