Eagle, Sabre or Titan?

  • ok i used the sabre first and it´s pretty nice, then i bought the eagle and I really had the feeling it´s more agile than a sabre the armor really doesnt matter if you can dodge the shots, so a eagle is probably much better than a titan since you can easily maneuver it out i dont mind if the turret is firing since you really dont need it, if you have some nice lvl 10 weapons tbh, i got loads of lvl10 weapons in my inventory Edited by - char1ty on 16-03-2003 02:23:01

  • Some of you fail to grasp the concept of "REFIRE RATE". Let me lay it down with math, maybe it´ll also be some help to rcohks. Lets do the comparision between the cerebus and nomad cannon "Rate of Refire" refers a value X, where X is the number of times weapons Y can fire in time Z. Since we´re unsure of what Z is; This unknown length of time could imply 1 second or 1 minute, which then implies that current weapon damage calculation (RoR * Dmg) isn´t based on damage per length of time, but damage based on number of shots taken, a prediction of weapon destructivity if all shots S landed. So lets compare the Cerebus and the Nomad in the duration of 1 shot. In this case the faster weapon (Nomad NRG Cannon) has a rate of 3.03. Lets assume the "Rate of Refire" is actually the "Rate of Recharge" in a STATIC time frame; The rate comparison between two weapons then can be examined on a SPECIFIC time line basis. So one unit of time is a staple for time, and the delimiter for when a weapon can fire (static point for when a weapon can fire). In 3.03 units of recharge the Nomad fires once, then returns to a charge level of 0 upon release of the weapon. Calculations Table : Recycle point of weapons : 3.03 Assuming initial levels are 0. Cerebus charge level : 0 Nomad charge level : 0 Lets now assume the Nomad charges up to 1 shot, which means 1 unit of time passes, which means the Cerebus is 3.03-2.00=1.03 charge levels away from it´s first shot. Nomad charge level : 3.03 Cerebus charge level : 2.00 Lets now assume both fires just as they reach maximum, and begins to recharge again; (This implies that the time it takes for a weapon to fire is negligible) (Note: the Cerebus does not fire since it has not reached 3.03, the staple for weapon fire capability in this experiment) Nomad charge level : 0 Cerebus charge level : 2.00 As stated above, the charge level for the Cerebus to be enabled for fire is 1.03. The rate of recharge for the Cerebus relative to the Nomad is 2/3.03 . T*S=D (Time * Speed = Distance) So S=D/T, S=1.03/(2/3.03)=0.679868. The rate of recharge of the Nomad relative to the Cerebus is 3.03/3.03. The time that the Cerebus took to enble fire is 0.679868. The extra fraction of recharge is T*S=D (Time * Speed = Distance) (3.03/3.03)*0.679868=0.679868. Therefore the time the Cerebus unloads 1 round, the Nomad unloads 1.679868 rounds. The Cerebus does Hull : 1173 Shield : 586 Per shot Nomad NRG Cannon Hull : 847 Shield : 423 Per shot Thus in 1 unit of time that passes: Cerebus : Hull : 1 * 1174=1173 Shield : 1 * 586=586 Nomad : Hull : 1.679868 * 847=1422.848196 Shield : 1.679868 * 423=710.584164 Yes I understand there can not be a fraction of a round. The damage indicated is potential damage + actual damage of 1 shot between two weapons.

  • People, It doesn´t matter which is "best." You know why? None of them is the "best." What matters is which one is the best FOR YOU. For example, I am great in a Titan. I mow down HORDES of Nomads easily. Others are obliterated in a Titan but can pilot the Eagle like an ace. Etcetera. Figuring out which is best for you is the hard part (and expensive, but I just went straight to the Titan). Oh, and this has been said before, but shields are the name of the game.   • Someone above claimed the sabre is the only very heavy fighter with a forward firing turret.. Don´t forget the anubis <img src=smilies/icon_smile_wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Have flown all the very heavy fighters myself. The eagle felt more meneuverable than the titan or sabre. I tried checking by timing how long it took all of them to make a full turn. Incidentally, pulling up (doing a loop) or turning to the side took the same amount of time. The eagle could do a 360 in about 6 seconds, while the sabre and titan took about 8. I´ll have to do a better test where I time how long it takes to do 10 turns or so, to get it more exact, but 2 seconds quicker on a turn meant I wasn´t deluding myself saying the eagle felt like it turned better, so I went with it.

  • your doing something wrong, really really wrong. cause the eagle can pull of a 360 turn in 2 (in words: TWO) seconds. you seem not have to use the full abilities of your eagle if you need 6. though I notice this more than once than enemys even in a eagle turn far slower than I do.   • Maybe, just maybe there is a point to there being 3 good VHF´s. Each has a very different style to it, depending on whether you want agility (the eagle), brute force (the titan) or a mixture (the sabre). So different people are bound to find different ships more their bag. I´ve just bought a sabre and I like it (especially going from a Valkyrie with level 8 weapons to a Sabre with all those nice level 10 weapons I have found <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>). Next I am going to go find myself an eagle and give it a try. I´ll probably go find a titan though I doubt it will suit my flying style much. (BTW I´m beginning to think the eagle looks cooler... the sabre looks kinda stupid with that underneath platform thingy)

  • The handling and performance of the ships all depend on the pilot, I have tried the eagle and the sabre and am currently working on the titan, of the sabre and eagle I prefer the eagle in looks and handling (and I can see similarities between the two starwars ships and the sabre and titan) and all I like about the sabre is the foreward turret. the sabre to me is one of the worst ships because of that large ugly loop on the bottom, it gets in the way and if you have missiles on there it will throw them off course in some situations. I have a friend that has the titan and he can easily handle it better than I have seen most people handling smaller ships, and its all because of how he uses it. he can easily take out any AI that comes at him and even in PVP duels against several players in all types of ships including eagles and sabres he almost always comes out the victor. you can look at the numbers but they dont mean anything until you have tried all three ships. after I try the titan I will probably go back to the eagle but I just want to see what its like, but if I do go back to the eagle I will probably exclude the turret and with the c10s I am losing my reliance on missles so I will end up with more firepower in the end. but my suggestion to anyone wondering is to try all three before commiting to one.

  • As far as the humpback goes, I think they blew it on that one. It costs twice what dromeray and drone cost but is so much less manuverable than each (and has smaller cap than dromeray)... it is pointless. The extra level on weaps and shields means nothing if you cant dodge any enemy fire. With the way the humpback handles they should have given it 1000 holds.

  • humpback is good, dont understand why you say it sucks, it can hold super turrets <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> and taking out everyone is kinda easy with turret view on in a humpack granted you´re doing the new tokyo - berlin, niobium diamond run
