Server will not do anything besides go to LAN

• I'm trying to set up a server for a few of my buddies, but every time I put my server up if shows on MY computer as "LAN" and my buddies cant find it. I cant find an option for my server to set it up for LAN or Internet. I have used the FLListserver.com mods and still no dice... anyone know what to do?

Thanks!

• let me know some info are you using a router or firewall you have to open some ports 2300, 2302 these must be open also port 80 you might open also. make sure these ports are open and are taking incoming traffic. when you open these ports go to this site and enter your ip address http://stats.freelancerserver.de/ when you do this give it a while to ping you and you see your server it works.

• i'm not on a router or firewall...

I tried the list server and no joy...

When I log in on my own comp, my server pops up as a "Lan" enabled server, even in the internet tab...

• I have a similar problem too and hope for help.

My problem is:
I want to make a own server for me and my friend to test a mod online that i made (i only changed some station sells and added a tradelane).
so i activate the mod in flmm my friend too and i start the dedicaded server (globalworkaround is on too in the flmm)
but he can not see the server (ports 2300-2309 are open and 6073)
and in the serverlist only i can see the server and the ip is: 192.168.2.197 is that a normal id for the server?
how can i get the server work?

help please  and thanks right here

• NO do NOT by any means use hamachi or similar 'virtual lan'
that will make unecessery overhead...

this is what you need to do

you have to put your router into halfbridge (portforward)
explictly forward ports 2302 from router WAN to your ip 192.168.... and port 2302

now you connect to your server with switch
....\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe -s192.168.1.178:2302 (or whatever is your private lan address)
and then check what is your external ip address
for instance go to http://www.whatismyip.com
tell that ip address to your friends
and they shoud connect to your WAN address
for that use same line as for your local lan, but supstitute 192.... with external ip address

you can read howto here too, its quite simple

by NO MEANS DONT use stuff like hamachi to do that.
