banned?

    same thing happend to me today...i dont know why, no one said anything to me about anything at all ( i dont mod btw, there are several ppl that could confrim that, also i die all the time in pvp, which would mean im not very good at modding if i did mod, lol)

    Yeah I´m also banned from the Elite server. Considering I don´t know why I´m banned... and the fact I am addicted to the game... I´d appreciate if an admin would plz unban me. My character name was "JiNgL[ng". thnxxx

    Bump... I assume this is the right forum for this thread. If an admin can help I´d really appreciate it. Jingling and I are friends and we play with quite a few other friends on Elite till this happened. This is really a bummer...

    hmm ppl using the [Retro tag interest me, this a good or bad reason Stinger as I get one of them as well on my server and wonder about him.     Why are people so mean. Talking that way in my terad. I´m not mad I just want to be unban I´m sorry if I sounded kind of mean. It just wasn´t right in my eyes.

    [RETRO* character names on my server have almost consistantly been flagged as cheaters. Contantly having to ban them. Gotta love it. Though my personal favorite are the people who create names like I_Mod Virus I_have_virus I_Crash_You Umm... just to be safe I have to ban these people.     Well, there was a pretty nice guy who was helping my friends and I out with the RETRO tag. I´m pretty sure it was Ranger-01. He was blowing up cargo ships by this base so we could sell the goods. By the next day we all had enough money to get Eagles and we saw him again at Freeport 9 or someplace. He was giving away these level 10 nomad guns. I didn´t think anything of it at the time since he said he got them from killing nomads. As far as cheating goes I wouldn´t know the 1st thing about it. My friends and I are pretty new to multiplayer FL. If by talking to him or trading with this person makes me unworthy of the Elite server, then so be it. But, in my opinion, this is hardly fair. You can´t expect newbies (as much as I hate to admit it) to know about this stuff... Anyway... it would be great if you would reconsider the bans against Jingling and I. I think they are undeserved.     Well, I was banned from 2 servers because I accepted large amounts of cash from someone, and when an admin caught me playing a few days later, the **** called me all sorts of nasty names and banned me. Being I am 43yrs of age, had this mindless twit tallked to my face the way he talked to me in chat I would have ripped his lungs out!!! That said, I think it is pretty assinine and ignorant for a player to be banned because they may have associated with a known cheat by no fault of their own! And if these lamers are that quick to ban people from their server, find somewhere else to play. And let others know just how chicken-sh!t their server is and no-one will go their! Word of mouth is the best weapon of revenge! Blow Me~~~~~~A-Kiss!

    well i have put in way to much time on elite to be banned for somthing stupid like that, and secondly if i went around badmouthing the server and it´s admin i would never get another chance to play there again...i didnt accept any money or equipment to my knowledge. the way i see it is that if you accept money/equipment from a cheater you´re cheating too.

    I agree with you. If someone knowingly takes ill gotten goods, be it weapons or cash, then they are just as guilty as the cheater. However, this was not the situation in our case. This was the 3rd day I have played seriously online. I was on with about 6 friends. We played nearly non-stop during this time. Doing diamond/niobium runs with each other. When we first met Ranger he was a nice guy. Followed us around for a while. Blew up some cargo ships for us, etc. Then the next day we had FINALLY made it to the Omnicron systems and bought our Eagles. I asked if anyone was selling level 10 guns and I bought 2 for 20k from some other guy.. Shadow"something". Then that Ranger guy showed up and we said hi. He remembered us from the previous day. We asked him if he had any Level 10 weapons for sale also. He then gave us all quite a few. It did seem a little odd that he would freely give so many away. But I figure once you get the best stuff in the game, that all comes a lot easier and would be less valuable to the person who would stockpile that stuff. And since we were already aquaintences, I figured he was just a nice guy. If you guys are convinced he cheats I am sorry for dealing with him. This is a big dissapointment to my friends and I and I hope the admins can look at our situation fairly. Thanks.

    I want to know if you get unbanned. Please post it in here when you do. If they don´t unban you, then they are no better than dock campers, noob killers, and cheaters. Maybe the guns you got were from cheating and that is why they banned you. Who knows, but I don´t think they should ban people unless the players is actually cheating by modding with their own computer.     Ok, I need to know the rules here. I am new to MP and don´t want to break any rules on any server that might get me banned from said server. The way I understand it is this. I cannot accept money or goods from anyone because I don´t know if they are cheaters or not. So even if someone, out of the goodness of their heart, wants to give me some start up credits, I should refuse and go about my business. I don´t understand how I could be called a cheat if I accept something from someone. Wether that person is a cheat or not, doesn´t make any sense to me. I do however understand that if I accept something from someone who I know is a cheat then, Yes, I should be warned and then if it happens again, banned. Please don´t missunderstand this post, I really don´t understand and want to.

    I understand that the server rules are posted on the server news. And I have read your post about the Server Dep´s on Elite (cool idea by the way). Here is the question for you then Stinger. I have seen may posts by you and from what I can tell from that, you seem to try to be fair to everyone. How would you handle a case like this on Elite? I´m a new player on Elite, not ever joined another server before, maybe I don´t even know about these forums. I have read the server news, and know that I shouldn´t have any mods. I make sure that I am clean and then head out into the safe new world on Elite. I am approached by someone I don´t know, I am un-aware that there are ways to cheat in FL and I am offered $10,000,000. I question the guy, he says, "It´s nothing for me to make this kind of money. I have really good weps and am good at fighting and trading and know where all the wreaks are." I take it and am insantly jumped up to a very high level. What do you do. And please, remember, I just am trying to figure things out before I do any thing wrong.

    Me personally, I would tell you that unfortunately you learned a hard lesson. Being that you have never played elsewhere you should loose anything from creating a new MP ID.     Look, let me be real frank with people for a change. We have more tools at our disposal than all FL servers out there. We can and do eventually find most people that don´t stick ot the very simply server rules. The Player vs Player safe zone in Liberty Space was put in place for the sole purpose of providing a safe place for people to log in as new players and not get their clocks cleaned by someone who has been there for a while, has gotten strong, is extremely bored and feels some sort of God complex by killing new people. We enforce this rule as strong as we can because the server software won´t let us flip a switch and do it automatically. This is also know as a nightmar for a server admin because they can not be on-line 24/7. So the only alternative is to slam people extremely HARD when they do get busted to make an example of them so others will spread the word and everyone will know the risk and we´re serious. The No hackin´, No cheatin´, no moddin rule is strictly enforced because it has been <b> proven </b> time after time after time that even a single pilot on a server will absolutely positively bring a server to it knees and create nothing but lag for ever other pilot. Not only it that rude and obnoxious but downright selfish. ZERO tolerance means ZERO tolerance. The excuses we here of &quot;I´m sorry I use mods on others server and forgot to turn it off when I logged onto Elite are not acceptable. This website has been the main fansite for Freelancer for several years and the chances of someone actually not seeing this rule for Elite is remote at best. With this stance comes a lot of people with it trying to circumvent the system and thats why we hav eso many tools at our disposal to bust these people. Yes, we do unban people from time to time but NO ONE has been unbanned that does something even once to hog the bandwidth of the server with hackin, cheatin, or moddin. No for the money question, it has been proven also that trading money doesn´t cause an auto-boot from the server patch. Anyone who says that is dead wrong. But for someone to give out large amounts of money by default is doing something wrong because every one will tell you it takes a lot of time to get rich playing the game clean. If they say it´s easy, it´s really only a relative statement because they are a well established player or they´re just braggin. If it is not either of the reason stated in the previous sentence, they are using a money hack and will be busted soon. If someone offers you a large sum of money, you should question them why.
