New Tool - Freelancer System Editor v0.3 *UPDATED*

  • The editor looks nice, but here are a few suggestions that might be useful : -Make planet symbols the size of real planets, or find a way to show the user the planet´s size. -On object creation, be it a planet, base, etc, make the properties dialog appear. It will force the user to define some parameters. Also, block the user from validating until some basic parameters are entered. -Make the symbols background transparent so they do not hide too much other symbols. -Maybe a real nice feature would be to make an option to activate/deactivate transparency on symbols. I might think of some others, if I do I will post here <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Keep up the good work man though <img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Edited by - FriendlyFire on 1/20/2005 6:21:58 PM

  • Really, This seems to be a nice deviation from the buggy FLE. Will DL Immediatly! <img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> <img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> And from the screens it seems your tl builder have 3D cababilities... Nea´d looks like my Mexico sys (not for platform just fun) is going to get something interesting to it now! Oh, and should anything happen to your current hosting location it would be bad, like the 3d system editor, plz upload to tlr. Edited by - BmB23 on 1/21/2005 12:45:20 AM

  • Okie a couple of issues: How do I save me Work? those *.* gets a lil´ borin´ to look at now, wauw, genius, no field cabability (sry if ur offended). and, if you over time added more and more dropdowns. I mean if you can operate this thing, your prolly better off doing it by notepad. But as i said before a nice deviation from the buggy fle, and seeing as this is, what? beta? alpha? erh... early, I think a few problems are to overcome <img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

  • Ok some things i should clear up, When creating an object, some basic parameters will be put, so the user dont have to fill everything in. The program will load/save Zones/Asteroids/EncounterParameterss if u already have them in a system, but you wont be able to edit them for now, that will be implimented in 0.2 ill also add a function to look for errors., and possibly transparency background for the icons. • This looks really great PsyCadelik! This could be a good alternative to FLE! I only tested the program for a very short time, but until now it seems to be very good! For example the tradelane Builder is very well done. For improvements: - as FriendlyFire said transparent backgrounds would be better - it would be good to see the system connections on the universemap (only a simple line) - I´m not really sure, which parameters are set automatically, when creating a new object (As you said in your last post), but the modder should still be able to change them afterwords (For special systems, etc.) So, these are only some hints: I really like the program. Keep up the good work and good luck! Black Eagle

  • Wow, I havent used this program yet, but I must say that an attempt at a less buggy system builder than FLE is great. My team and I spent more time fixing errors made by FLE than it took to build the system. It wouldve been faster to build it from scratch. I hope this is as good as it looks. <img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> What a first post! <img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle><img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Edited by - parabolix on 1/21/2005 9:43:49 AM

  • It would be great if we could get a 3D system builder, something like FRED in Freespace. Great job, btw. The old FLE was too buggy to use.

  • Im almost done with 0.2, it should be available in 2-3 days Here´s a list of things that have been added/fixed : - System links on the universe map - Zones added - Transparent icons added - Jumphole_light icon fixed - Object properties added (Faction/Behavior/Reputation) - TL builder now has 3d capabilities - lots of dropdown lists! - Jumping from jumpgates/jumpholes to other systems Edited by - PsyCadelik on 1/23/2005 2:04:00 PM

  • This tool looks like it will become a great help in making new systems. There´s nothing like exploring new systems that expands the life of the Freelancer Universe. Thanks for all the time and effort you are putting into making this for everyone to enjoy. I see that allot of people have already downloaded the first version. I´m wondering if some good mods will come out of this. If nothing else the experience gained in modifying a game can be rewarding in itself just knowing that you have accomplished something special. See ya all on the launchpad... from bp <img src=´http://www.lancersreactor.org/images/news/bp61.gif ´>

  • [QUOTE=Black Eagle - I´m not really sure, which parameters are set automatically, when creating a new object (As you said in your last post), but the modder should still be able to change them afterwords (For special systems, etc.) I think that (I swear, I´ve seen it in some programs) You should make a dropdown so the not-so-skilled user can choose something from the list. but, make the dropdown text replaceable with text of your own for advanced effects only achievable this way. sounds tricky programming-wise (I´m no programmer but I have a feeling such a feature won´t be easy to make) Edited by - BmB23 on 1/25/2005 10:49:30 AM Stupid quote wont work Edited by - BmB23 on 1/25/2005 10:50:30 AM

  • <font size=1 face="trebuchet ms"><BLOCKQUOTE><hr size=1 noshade> BmB23 : make the dropdown text replaceable with text of your own for advanced effects only achievable this way. <hr size=1 noshade></BLOCKQUOTE></font><font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2> Its already the way all the dropdowns work. And more than that, in the program folders, theres one called &quot;DATA&quot; where the data for all the dropdown lists are (in txt format), and you can add yours so they´ll show up in the list. Some other things i´ve added : - Planets/Stars icon size varies depending on the radius - Docking Ring Installer (for planets, 8 cardinal points, will set the base name if the planet has one) Edited by - PsyCadelik on 1/25/2005 11:24:14 AM

Pictures have also been updated I hope eveyone likes it, there are still a few things to do but they´ll have to wait as I have other projects in the works. If you have ideas or would like something being done, like for example: a trade/patrol path maker (which will be made eventually) please post them, suggestions/comments welcome too <img src=smilies/icon_smile_wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> PS : The TL Builder has 3d capabilities but its still not perfect.. so use at your own risk! hehe

  • oh, and just a question, are you working on zoom feature? high precision would be great <img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> and can we possibly hope for a sidelook window in future versions?
