Super Nomads what the heck?

  • The problem is that the titan is not the best ship (ok, hit me for this, lol), the brigandine is not the right shield. But the main problem is: you are simply not good enough, yet

  • Correct me if im wrong but shouldnt criticism come with explanations :-D what sheild should i get then.....i didnt like the titan anyways and got a saber instead i like it better....much easier to kill 10 bounty hunters at a time

  • A little depends on the ship, more on your skill with the mouse to fly the ship, to stay away from hits, but to puch back. In other words, out fly them and have decent weps to take them out. Don´t waste time with energy weps as they have no shields. Get those that do hull damage. Edited by - Cortana on 7/11/2005 4:58:48 AM

  • You need to know your ship also. I fly a Titan right now, with Jades and Diamondbacks. This thing turns like a freighter though. So I have to use it like a slugger. Wade in and deal out tons of damage while being able to absorb a lot. If I try to get fancy and fly cutesy with something, even a smaller HF it is just going to dance around me. But let me line it up for a full salvo and a Lancer or two and it´s bye-bye. Of course that tactice would have to be just the opposite with a lighter fighter. So you not only have to know your enemy, you have to know your own equipment.

  • It should be more ticklin´ than tacklin´ ... anyway, sorry if I offended you. In my experience Graviton shields are best against Nomad weapons THOUGH these weapons do not belong to any of the traditional Laser/Plasma/Photon/etc. class. The ship you´ve already changed (well done imo). The other posters are right: you must know your equipment. But even in a Sabre with best shield a full frontal attack of four or even more Nomads can be dangerous. So change your way of fighting: change to free flight (space bar) and keep moving your mouse or use strafeing with A- and D-keys; best of course is a combination of strafeing AND additional moves. You must be a moving target - and you´ll avoid a lot of hits. In Vanilla FL (i.e. unmodded game) after the first rush turn sharply (use X-key too) to get in the back of the Nomads. Thrust and hit one of them as hard as possible. As soon as one of your opponents get´s in YOUR back turn sharply ... - repeat as many times as needed. In a modded game you have to change tactics: Modded games usually have NPCs using nanobots (and regenerating shields off course - but Nomads don´t have shields normally even in modded games). There you should NOT break your attack at one particular enemy but go after him to finish him. That´s why fast moving during your attack is even more important to prevent being hit deadly by following ennemies. In such a moment it is not the baddest of all ideas to use a mine too.

  • There really isn´t much different from killing a Nomad and killing a human. But weapons that are concentrated more towards shields don´t work well, they don´t have shields. Just lots of armor. When they charge at you, thrust and strafe to the side, but still shoot at them. When they are close to hitting you, dive down really fast, slow down to around 30 and flip your ship over, then shoot there behinds. Charge them too. If you are really good, you can shoot their guns when you thrust past them and totaly make them useless. That´s how I kill anyone else, I take out their main guns. If you are really good, thrust between two people and attack them both. You don´t need a light fighter too, you can do it with the Titan.

  • You can really do this with any VHF or High-end HF (lighter ships depedning on your piloting aptitude). I prefer Weapons with decent damage and refire; Salamancas and Hornvipers generally. DOn´t attempt a frontal assault, just veer away from and duck under the nomads intial run and assault them from the rear (they have no turrets and are effectivley defenseless. Always shoot for the kill, and eliminate them swiftly.

  • When fighting nomads in larger fighters, such as the Titan or the Sabre, you need to know 3 things: 1. Buy weapons that have a high hull damage. 2. Have plenty of SBs and NBs 3. Use the engine kill during battle --------------------------------------- If I had a dollar for every idiot on the Earth... Like anime? • the thing is that the Nomad weapons do a lot of damage. even with the best shield you´re just a couple of hits. i have a Titan, too (i love the Titan - it is the best ship!) and the first time i met Nomads in SP i had no problems dealing with them. i have the "codename" weapons (about 24 of them now), which are actually the only ones that do more damage than the Nomad weapons. but after killing a few packs of Nomad fighters, i had enough Nomad weapons to replace all my Class 10 gun slots with them (i have 2 left actually) because the codename guns use a lot of energy and drain out quickly. the Nomad weapons are awesome. just don´t let them hit you. by the way, are there any Nomads bigger than fighters in SP after the storyline missions? i hated fighting Nomads when i had to, but i´d love to fight them again now that i have the equipment to do it weird sig.

  • when i fight nomads the tactic i use is to turn and run a while then hit z turn and shoot flying through the middle of the chasing pack doing as much damage as possible then pick off the ships one by one [ note this sometimes does not work Angel_Azreal

    Angels Always return they never go away for long .note to oneself {stop listening to myself ? }
