Admin rules...live with it or go somewhere else. Play within the rules and this is a pretty nice server to play on. All i have to say is ... WOW! The dedicated line has made gameplay SO much more enjoyable. Thanks for all your time and effort (and $$), I always check the posts before I jump online. Gene, I´m not about to delete my hours of progress on other servers just so I can re-start on your server (especially considering you´re gonna wipe in a couple weeks). I have easily over 40 hours invested in play on other servers. You didn´t like my name. Fine. Let me log in to change it (and hopefully find someone to trade my cash back to me before restarting). I´m really not that hooked on my name. I´m VERY annoyed that I´m totally banned via yer whim, though. No warning, no nuffin´, I just can´t play there ever unless I give up all my previous time on other servers... Think about it. Your bans are doing more than you think they are.

If im using the OpenSP mod by xerox, would that destabilise the server?

People have probably contacted you about this already...but I´ve experienced a big problem with cheaters when I was on. If only you were there, some guy called &quot;/ex&quot; wasn´t just PKing...he camped outside Manhattan and MASSACRED EVERYONE that went there. I know I was probably out of line for doing this, but I was going to engage him. I assumed that my ship was better than his, and I just wanted to put an end to it. Unfortunately, I found out the hard way that he was cheating. I was killed in like 2-3 seconds (despite having lvl9 shields and 9900 armour!), and I was still WAY out of weapons range. Also, someone said he was seen moving at completely unrealistic speeds. As well as that, another cheater (mentioned by a few players on the server) called Asilum was constantly trying to give out large amounts of money. Recently, it´s like I´m kicked off the server quite often. With what I saw today, I can easily assume that most of this was caused by (please excuse my language) those complete bastards!! It kinda hurts to see a good server like this running poorly because MODers/cheaters have to mess it all up. <img src=smilies/icon_smile_sad.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

Gene, First, let me say thanks for putting up a FAST server with a fast connection, letting us serious gamers play and interact. I am, for one, am having fun when I can get on that is. <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> However, there are players cheating rather badly on your system. As Bax said, yesterday evening it was Vax (not Vex) who was getting their pathatic jollies killing newbies out of Mahnattan. Two days ago it was some player named something like Caxumbaxta. I suspect that these two are one and the same, parked with a maxed out sabre, attacking at over 2k distance. Interesting, he/she left after Esien_Asher (sp?) heard about this and was heading towards Manhattan to deal with him and I was mentioning that prehaps you could ban his IP and send it to other FL admins. It would be nice if this was possible, BTW. In any case, I understand that there is not much you can do about cheaters. You cannot admin the system all day all the time, and perhaps it is starting to get a hassle, which I hope not. The high speed and relibility of your system which makes is so popular with players also attracts the script-kiddie cheaters. In any case, thanks for hosting FL. I shall try play as often as real life allows.

I did not know that running a MOD was cheating. I installed that MOD thing for singleplayer. Who would have guessed it works in MP?? I´m sorry for any problems ... I guess I´ll go find another server <img src=smilies/icon_smile_sad.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

this server is ok but 1 big problem i got banned for no reason at all i didnt cheat or any thing i want to know why

ElNiNo, when we say MOD´ers, we mean people who change their ship statistics to make them invincible, get loads of money and stuff like that. So unless you´re doing that, you have nothing to worry about. <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> About the MOD you´re using, it really depends on WHAT it does. Besides, you might want to uninstall it anyway, because there´s a chance that it could affect the server stability (that applies to ALL servers, except maybe the ones with that MOD installed). It´s like games with altered .ini files have a negative effect on servers.

so i i install a SP mod, it won´t effect my MP?

the server reset problem is growing rampant. atleast 2-3 times an hour. sometimes every 15 minutes. i dont think its a connection problem, as u just changed it, and truthfully, this was a problem b4 as well.

ugh, i cant even finish a run without it going down atleast twice, lol

server has been going down a lot. In the past hour (22:00 PST 4/21/03) it has gone down twice. edit: make that three times. And no apparent lag or anything we usually see when it goes down, it just goes off Edited by - smellymummy on 22-04-2003 07:05:22

Things to think about, Gene. 1) You´ve stated recenly that you´re lv5 on MP, and really don´t have time to play the game. This seems to make you unqualified for judging how fast honest players can level up. Using only trading, I can be level 20+ in only 3-4 hours. Shortly after that, I can earn about 1 mil. per hour. BTW, that is ONLY trading, no missions that involve kills at all. I´ve seen player chat indicating players know how to HONESTLY make lv. 38 in about 2 hours. Obviously, they didn´t give details, but it was indicated that trading was they way to do so. 2) You´re banning people for either trivial reasons (names that offend YOU, but not the online public at large), or your perception of cheating (yet seemingly you´ve not played the game enough to know how potent honest trading IS in advancing players). 3) The massive problem you have with cheaters currently is due to your choice of ban targets. I know of NO other server I play on that has SUCH a problem with cheaters. Sure, most servers have SOME problem, and it´s based on cheaters whos sense of fun is having an invulnerable ship and decent to rediculous weapons for the area they´re in. On YOUR server, you´re getting the hardest of the cheats. Invulnerable, able to kill @ 2k range, staying for extended periods, not caring if they´re banned or not. This is a beast you created, and it will not end while you keep your current values. There is one way to end it, but it´s tantamount to making it a private server, and I don´t think that´s your aim. All I can say is, misery will follow you closely while you follow your current course. And once again, I urge you to think about your choice of actions. I´m not against you, but ... man, look at what´s happening due to your choices, ok? Ponder it, even. And in case you´re wondering, no, I´m NOT one of the massive cheaters. I´m still waiting for the &quot;unban&quot;, so I can start again w/out sacraficing the many many hours I have invested in other servers. I play (mostly) on dialup, and I play the server with the lowest ping on any given day. That means I play on a couple servers at work (t1), and many servers at home (dialup *puke*). I´d be more than happy to re-start, though I´d hope for a cash handoff from an honest player, as my cash was earned honestly. If it doesn´t happen? Well, no biggie, it´s only a few hours of play. Likely? no. But I won´t give up my hours of play. I still dream of an exception. I´ll check every few days to see if it´s happened, at least for the next couple months or so.
