• for advanced and more costomized modding get the Freelancer INI uncompressor (command line v 1.1) its the smallest in size and i think it works good. not on dlls did imagine say anything about dll editing? and if u r thinking of making harpoints on a ship.... it is extremely hard to understand and do. id suggest make a ship. draw it on paper put where u want the harpoints to go (u may want to draw all the sides of the ship) then send it to a very experienced modder. if they r willing and they can put the hardpionts on. milkshape costs money but it is the only1 suitable for freelancer. it will take time and practice to get to work it sticks and stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me!

 • Ahhh.. so THATS where these utility things are I actualy started amusing myself by making a gun. There is a good tutorial for this and it had a link to the utility page so I have the ini editor. The author of this tutorial said I should get another program called fled_ids??? Im lookin 4 it, but does it go by another name? Imagine said he knew little about ship modding but enought to write a basic tutorial. I didn´t have the tools, so I didn´t read too much of it. Dunno if he mentioned dlls(?) but Ive seen that acronym everywhere. If I actualy get this thing going but have hardpoint trouble, i´ll let u kno . I did a search for milkshape but I must confess it was a little half hearted. I´ll try that again as well. We who are about to die salute you!

 • Sorry about that. Milkshape is at http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/ms3d/index.html Will put that in the tutorial too. I didn´t go over dll editing at all, most of the reason is that I don´t know how to do it . I think the only difference is that you can put in a new ship without replacing an old one if you edit the dlls. HFH_Mack has a good tutorial on dll editing here. As for hardpoints, you can put them on a ship in milkshape really easily: no math involved, just put a triangular marker where you want it. CMP export handles the basic orientation data. Hardpoint editing only gets hairy when you try to do it outside of milkshape, ie, editing the .cmp file with utf editor. It used to be that you have to do it that way if you wanted to add hardpoints to a ship already in FL, but now there´s a CMP import utility that will put the ship back into milkshape, where you can re-hardpoint it. edit: ok, my tutorial is fixed. <img src=´http://www.sighost.us/members/neoimagine/genesis.jpg ´> Edited by - Imagine on 21-08-2003 02:08:42

 • Poof somthing has come of my efforts. I now have a textured ship sitting in milkshape ready for hardpoints. I just need a list of hp names and codes to name the hardpoint groups. Do you know where I can get this? We who are about to die salute you!

 • I´ve heard that the´re all listed in the content.dll file, opened with a hex editor. Or you can open some original FL ships with utf edit and take a look at what they have. I don´t think there are that many different kinds...

 • Man - finding this wasn´t impossible - look in the downloads section... oops -i did the hard work - so you don´t have to - aint i nice FLED-ids And from Reyman´s search in my OLD post about finding reshack - he used google to give this result ResHack Chips
