Steam? Oh, there is steam. The last couple of posts have been rivetting. <img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Woot <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

<font size=1 face="trebuchet ms"><BLOCKQUOTE><hr size=1 noshade>Steam? Oh, there is steam. <hr size=1 noshade></BLOCKQUOTE></font><font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2> Do the words "TLR is a FAMILY site" remind you guys of anything? Seriously, some of this stuff has gone a bit too far recently. It has been consistanly said by everyone from Bargib down that TLR is a family site, which is why they have curse block on and have rules against adult content. It´s good that it was marked, but still, you could get mods over here in seconds if things go much farther. Just because the RPG is long and involved doesn´t mean that they will ignore it. They jumped all over CYOF a while ago, and it was well over 900 posts! Just a little warning, because the LAST thing I want to see is this RPG getting locked/deleted because you guys had to have the adult scenes in it. Just my 2 cents.

I know it´s hard to believe, Jacob, but most adults in vibrant relationships actually do have sex on occaision. Shocking, I know. But really. Having said that, point is well taken. We´ll be less obvious about it.
-
Geez, that´s not what I meant. I don´t care if people have sex. I´m all for it myself. <img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> It´s just that if we post sexual material like that on TLR, then we run a great risk of losing our wonderful game. That´s something I do NOT support, and I hope it isn´t something you support either.
-
You´re right, of course. Thanks for raising the issue. I actually wrestled with the inclusion of a sexual encounter for a long, long time (the flashback about Juan and Tanya was meant to happen when she was on the earth elemental planet) precisely because TLR is a family site and why I headed my latest post with a warning. For the sake of clarity, perhaps I should put a disclaimer on the title post? Code and I have emailed at length regarding the development of R&T´s relationship, I felt now was an appropriate time and natural progression to reach another level. Emotionally and physically, at least. <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> I went back over the many, many posts regarding Tanya´s personal conflicts and the chances of romance in her troubled life were slim, to virtually none. For a race thrives on interaction with others, I felt Tanya was sufficiently (and artifically) starved of that interaction. No wonder the poor lass felt lonely! To summarise, I can categorically state that sex, at least in the way I´ve written, will be a rarer occurrence in future posts, but was a necessary relationship development between two key characters and no doubt will be tested in future encounters. I don´t want to detract from the main storyline, which if I might add, is getting more exciting as we draw nearer to an inevitable series of conflicts! Treasure hunt anyone? <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> PS: Final or other board admin, I don´t think it´s terribly graphic or explicit, personally, but if you think the content is too racy please let me know and I´ll amend it. <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Edited by - athena on 10/4/2005 1:36:22 AM

perhaps a small disclamimer in the first post would be good, but at the same time, it can draw people into it who arn´t necissarily at the maturity level needed to understand and see the fic as a whole for what it is. Rob and Tanya have been sculpted mevelously. they´re believeable, they have their strenghts, but they suffer from the reprocussions of their line of work. I think anyone would be hard pressed to fine another character as well developed as these two on this board. they ahve developed into more than simply characters of a fan fic for those of us involved, and for the readers, Im sure they´re captivated, I know i was when I was reading and still am. also the way the fic is written I think it would, for the most part, weed out those who couldnt handle these subjects before they get to them. this is a part of life, and as the years go by it has become less and less taboo. yes, this is a family site, but a large portion of the people here are very intellegent, mature people. smart enough to avoid subject that cause riots. I for one think it fits the progression of the Fiction perfectly (and if I may say so, about time =P) anyway thats my rant, I completel understand where you´re comming from jacob, but i think that the way it is written, those we would be worried about wouldnt completely understand what was going on.

What about Nikolai and Konn??? <img src=smilies/icon_smile_sad.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> <img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

I think by and large everybody´s either OK with ´em or doesn´t want to say nothin´. <img src=smilies/icon_smile_wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

I have no problems with them =D. Im a bit of a hopeless romantic, so any romance is nice to see, keeps my hopes alive. like I said earlier, this is a fic for mature people, and the people who read this are hopefully openminded enough to accept it is a completely natural thing that has existed as long as humanity has, and probably longer

Again, just want to clarify that I have <i>no </i> issues against the inclusion of the scenes, but knowing the site´s moderation and administration after having been on this site for a long time, I know that if they stumble across it, we may get a stern warning or possibly a lock and request that the RPG get moved to a private forum. I´m just offering a warning, not a criticism of any sort.

FA - Thanks for the compliments. They mean a lot. <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>
-
well they´re well deserved, you two just string the words together so well, you make it look effortless, nothing looks like you were trying too hard to make something fit. Wish I could do it so well =D
-
Aw. That´s a very sweet compliment. Thanks, FA <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Code, myself and many others spend a lot of time e-mailing to ensure we correctly capture our character´s interactions, continuity and consistency. That´s a lot of words beginning with ´c´ lol So long as people continue to enjoy playing and reading the RPG, we go on! <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

As an added reminder, not too much in the way of steamy romps please - Barbara Cartland, this forum, is not! Try to keep the action down a bit, be less descriptive and more suggestive instead (read that as imply what goes on - so no 50 descriptions about what is pummeling what...). Whilst a good old fashioned romance can add to a story, some of the descriptions seem unnecessarily gratuitous. That way we can avoid complaints - and we don´t want to have to moderate creative writings at all, you should moderate your content yourselves - being aware of your audience.
-
Is the current level of descriptive romance / violence: Suitable Borderline - acceptable Borderline - please change it just in case Unacceptable ..? Thanks <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> By way of explaining my own rationale, granted there´s few romance scenes in FL the game, there is however plenty of violence and the game itself is rated in England as ´15´. The last ´15´ rated film I saw had plenty violence, and plenty of raw flesh too lol If the scope of TLR caters for an audience younger than ´15´, that´s fine. A rating per above would be a helpful guideline. <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Edited by - athena on 10/7/2005 5:51:12 AM

Question for Chips. Which thread have you or other mods been watching? This one? The game thread itself? Both? Neither? I had a theory about all this, and now I´m wondering if I´m right or wrong.
