The Force light-vs-dark

There is a serious contradiction in the force of the star wars universe. In the old movies, it was controled by the jedi, In Ep 1 Quigon said finding Anikin was the Will of the force, indicating inteligence, personality if you will. A major conflict with the original movies.

Silence!!!!!!!! Topher speaks… It could be argued that the will of the Force wasn’t mentioned in the 1st 3 movies because there were so few Jedi. There were 2, Yoda and Obi Wan. I don’t think that Obi Wan bought into the will of the force thing since it was never mentioned after Qui Gon Jin died in Phantom Menace. It might have been a belief by a certain number of Jedi but not all. I doubt very seriously if the Emperor or Darth Vader/Anikin would admit to the Force controlling them by will or intelligence. In A New Hope, when Obi Wan was teaching Luke in the Falcon he admitted that the Force partially controls your actions. I believe that this is more of a “spider sense” thing than it telling you what to do. Also I believe that with your mind clear, it could give you little hints about what’s coming. A little guidance when you need it but not a pre-determined end that the Force has planned. P.S. I would go with the Light side… I am a good guy thru and thru. the novel is allready out, im gonna get myself a copy next week

I recently got and read the novel. My reactions are thus: I reserve all opinions for the film. The book basically acted as a larger, more expensive version of the trailer. I already know what happens, I want to <i>see </i> it.

sadly FD in the real world things are not so simple as light v dark, good v bad. if only they were! while the mythos of Star Wars is sweeping and grandiose, i´ve always felt its simple good guys v bad guys morality was taken too seriously by a lot of folk. it is after all q easy to adopt such simplistic observations into real life; however anger hate and fear play as much a part in our psyches as the *positive* emotions and since they help make us what we are, can they truly be considered bad?

Although for the most part I´m your model citizen, there´s just something alluring about the dark side. I mean c´mon, the light side is <b>BORING </b>. Deep down inside I´ll admit that I´d be evil <img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

as for which side ( light or dark) I would choose, it would be light side hands down. For me anger has never made life easier or safer but being kind and useing reason to get throu life has brought me a life that has no regrets in it ( and how many can truthfully say that at 35?) And I have another reason to staet that I would follow the light side. I pratice wicca and I am what you would call a white witch. I dont cast spells that would change the minds of others ( it does work I have seen the results) shoot I dont even cast love spells for the same reason. For this I have been outcasted by others of my faith because they saw me as weak, but I think it takes more willpower and curage to do things the hard way and stay pure then it is to use ones willpower and anger to forcfully change things to make life easier in the short term.I dont use people and I dont let them use me but I have found that people will be more willing to help you if you show them kindness then they would if you forced them throu anger and willpower.And I get better results and I can turn to those people agine if need be. Personally, my sabre color (dual ended) is white. A combination of both red, green and blue saber crystals (The former retrieved from a dead sith´s sabre) represents my mastery of peace talks and the extent at which i am willing to go to get them Primarily light side, i will frequently use dark force powers to achieve good ends, and will often use equipemt favoured by sith, as it affords a significant advantage.

Well, I took the test Esquilax linked to and I scored 37, leaning more towards the Jedi ways as I already knew of course. If I look at my personality then yes, I would be a Jedi. However, I also must admit that the dark side is in certain ways cooler. Meaning the red eyes, black costumes, red lightsabers and then those cool Force powers such as Force choke, lightening, drain life etc. Then again, the sad thing is that it comes often with mutilations, robotic arms and legs, stabilizer / breathing suits etc. because of serious corruption of the body due to the dark side. The dark side consumes you and changes your appearance (just remember how the dark force of the One Ring in The Lord of the Rings consumed the hobbit Smeagol and turned him into the creature Gollum and just look at the Emperor in Star Wars and what it did to him. No anti-wrinkle cream is going to safe him now <img src=smilies/icon_smile_wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> ). Also, being on the dark side has more disadvantages, such as the fact that because the Sith are so power hungry, they always scheme to overthrow the current Sith Lord´s reign or other high ranking Sith and take the reign for themselves. The Sith basically kill eachother off all the time as they vie for power and that´s the reason why Darth Bane eventually created the rule that there can be no more than two Sith at the same time, a Master and an apprentice. I started off a &quot;good guy&quot;, my two lightsabers where yellow and silver, denoting I was a Sentenial before becoming a Marauder. Well bad thigs happen to everone, to what degrre though is up to the laws of the universe. I have a hard time, mostly due to our world leaders and the mass stupity of my peers.
