Which of these mods is the best in your opinion??

  • Discovery of course

Coz it just extends Freelancer in it's "being"... I mean ... if you fly to Omega systems you never see blue space around you (Kussari I mean), you will see just neigbouring universe (green - omicron systems, white-tau.... and so on...)...

I really like that when I see green haze I am pretty sure that I am in omicron systems... hope I was clear

    Grets...

  • To be honest, I agree with you! :D Discovery is truly the "sequel" of Freelancer!

I have it and I enjoy every minute I play in it!

    cheers m8!

Freelancer Alpha 1 - 1...This is planet Lisbon, docking ring cleared! Good luck out there! =D

  • Discovery is not even close to the freelancer story.
The results at the mod of the year awards showed it.
Freeworlds and Crossfire have been voted to be the best and both modding teams are close to release even more amazing versions of these mods.

While Freeworlds is a total conversation Crossfire seems to follow the original storyline based on the entire lancer universe and not just based on Freelancer.

  • The fighters from Starlancer fit pretty well into because of the story. Reinvention of lost technology based on old databases on earth. Considering how much weaker the Freelancer ships are compared to Starlancer and how stupid their design often is. Based on the technology was introduced with the crossfire story the ships simply belong there and many players play only with those ships due to their cool design.

You also can not say that the discovery ships fit better. They are very often buggy and not that good textured.

I have seen the latest Discovery movie and I have to ask myself "what is new there?"
Then I took a look at the new Freeworlds and its amazing ships and Crossfire with its cool features and new graphics.
Players will have an easy choice which mods they should play once those new versions are getting released.

  • DS9 mod, as I am or was a SP player only, and preferred ship varieties to worlds.

  • Can't pick from the mods on the list since I haven't played them. Also, I haven't been playing the game for years, so I absolutely want to play the SP campaign all over again.

The Rebalance mod is pretty nice. It's got powerplants and engines, and strafing has a real effect. On the flipside, the Star Wars replacement music was annoying. I'm playing a freelancer dammit, I'm not Mace Windu.

The Discovery mod was a nice tough challenge - except that they apparently abandoned the SP campaign and concentrated on MP. That's fine; I just wish they'd put a disclaimer mentioning that before I found out the hard way several missions into the game. Probably gonna play this one again after I finish up the campaign. It doesn't have what I like about Rebalance, but I figure I might get a month's worth of weekend gaming to explore all the new places.

Finally, I'm looking forward to the Privateer mod thing. I found out that Reckoning is stalled (sadly...), so I'll have to go look up something equivalent and hope it's not just a measly ship mod. It's not that I dislike ship mods; but it gets annoying to be playing the exact same game just with different ships. To me, a mod's got to at least tweak the other stuff. I mean, if we're just gonna play ship mods then why separate them? Combine them all together in one huge pack and be done with it.

Edit: Could the poll guy show the mod's current latest version and maybe link to the mod's download page? I remember LancersReactor being vastly more easy on the eyes and navigable, what happened? It's such a pain to track down mods now and having to guess which version is the latest version.

  • I tried all those mods and I liked them a lot! All of them! :D But, I never get tired of the normal Freelancer SP campaign!

I'm still looking for new mods to try!

    cheers!

  • I have not tried any mods yet but will be watching this topic with interest. Are the mods available for DL on this site or must they be purchased somewhere?

  • I have to vote other because this post is nothing but biased. 4 out of 7 from Swat (I have nothing against him), looks like hidden PR to me. Besides you are missing all of the good mods such as WTS, North Quadrant, Flak 88, Nightstalker's Universe Mod, Monkey Universe, or Tekagis Treasure (the list goes on). So, until all options are available to players everyone should vote other. Also, only two of those four mods are out so how can you say its your favorite if its not even out yet??

  • There are a number of fantastic mods that don't get much fanfare because they are newer and don't have the population that older mods have. If people actually tried some of the newer mods, they might rethink their favorite mod.

I guess its human nature, to call the mod they're currently playing at (where they're established and comfortable) the best.

  • Thats, uhh, very interesting, thanks. Now i know there are women on the interent. Another mystery solved. At least there is no shortage in pictorial depiction. Judging by that one could think there are no men on the Internet.
