Black hole trears a star apart

  • Holy ****, thats cool!! lol, it did that to a star....think what would happen to earth in that possition

  • Yeah, I just heard about that today. Now we have some more evidence that would seem to suggest that black holes exist. Now if they could only prove that dark matter exists...

  • No, Bom, you can´t have it... I want it! To make this a post useful to the remainder of humanity, i will say that this is "Totally cool dude!" Every 4 Seconds someone in the world opens a can of Spam. I just post it. "Last words are for people who have not said enough!" - Karl Marx´s last words.

  • X J1242-11 is an estimated 700 million light years away from Earth. so I should be worried then?

"for once, i`ll actually tell you what i was thinking; but maybe i won`t have anything to say.."

  • Maybe While spending around black hole, star going close to speed of light might get lose and fly towards us. Of course it would take it close to 1000 years to get here. lol, I wrote this as a joke...and it ends up sounding serious

  • you guys find those intersting eh ? they went into my archive quite a long time ago. i´m trying to look for other more intersting stuff.. it you guys like those i´ll post them up as they come by.

  • it is also theorised that black holes are moving themselves so it may be more accurate to say the black hole "hunted down" and mugged the star rather than the reverse

  • Hope no poor bastards lived in that system. It´s better to be a worldwide known drunkard than an anonymous alcoholic!

  • A white hole? Supposidly the other end of a black one. If blackholes exist(This is still debated AFAIK) then eventually nothing may exist since the bhs will swallow it all ? -~-~-~-~ There is no Silicon Heaven! But where do all the calculators go ? • /agrees with Heltak Somthin like a fifth of all stars become black holes and stay that way forever. That would seem to say that everything eventualy will be part of a black hole. The thing is they emit x-rays and all sorts of other stuff. If the intense conditions in the hole are transforming matter into energy (theoreticly possible. 3 grams of matter would power a 100watt lightbulb for over 85000 years!) that "matter" is in face leaving and there is hope for the universe

  • The other side of the coin is dark energy, like Esq. mentioned. You would think that black holes ultimately would swallow up everything. Assuming a fairly static universe, this could be the case. But astronomers have been observing that rather than slowing down or contracting, the universe that we can see and measure is expanding. Galaxies are flying away from each other, not toward. Dark energy is believed to be the "propellant" so to speak. It is believed that there is lots of it and that it is pushing us all out so that, now, some theorists think that our universe ultimately may be ripped apart by what seems to be the unstoppable expansion. <Edited to correct from dark matter to dark energy> Edited by - Indy11 on 2/19/2004 12:16:18 PM

  • But how is it hat "Dark" matter can exist with "Light" Matter without ripping each other apart from the differences in each of them? Surely this must mean we have a third "Grey" Matter? -~-~-~-~ There is no Silicon Heaven! But where do all the calculators go ?
