• Gawd, between Parabolix (I may have to start calling you "Paranoix&quot and Sirius´s "not believing" el nino causes dramatic weather changes, I´m starting to wonder about you guys. Study what´s going on at National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and take time to read through all their research they´ve been doing for the past 50 years. Time for a bit of reality about this. ps: I used to be the navigator on a ship and NOAA was our chief source of all weather and ocean current information. They are for all cruise ships and merchant and Navy ships as well. I think they know what they´re talking about. And yes, they are the ones who study el nino (or la nina) which is a change in the ocean temperature (Nino is warmer, Nina is colder) and use this to predict weather cycles. It´s a well known and very real indicator of weather patterns. Edited by - Boscoe on 1/18/2005 7:29:21 AM

 • Now that im back its time for me to say my piece. Firstly as many of you know i live in the city of Carlisle which was devastated by flooding. I myself saw the scenes of the flooding which some of you will have seen on TV first hand. I also have friends who were made homeless by the flooding and its a crying shame, granted its not as bad as the effects of the tsunami but its still bad. As a direct consequence of the flooding i lost power for two days and therefore was unable to revise for two important exams which i undertook last week at my school even though it had been partially submerged. I will post a link to a site where many of the pictures of the floods are catalouged shortly. Hopefully the situation will improve for those who are still even now without power here. I would like you all to spare a thought for all of the people caught up in the freak weather we as a planet have been experiencing in the past few weeks. Thats my "two cents" as you Americans say.
