• Here is what I think... In the (for example) 1700´s the high seas were the great unknown. Not human´s natural habitat and certainly not friendly to humans. All that keps them alive was thier vessel (note the carefull use of the word "vessel&quot wich held all thier food and water etc. Space is not unlike this. A hostile environment, the frontier, etc. The vehicles are literaly vessels. They hold in the very air we breath, in addition to food and water. They would also need to be large, and coincidentaly fit the names "carrier" or "battleship" rather well.

  • blaze , put a tank in a rocket, launch it into space, drop tank, and what do u get (of it works quite well is an other question) Spamius Threadius <img

  •

Tanks against battleships? I will put my bet on the battleship.

<font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2> Depends on the size and amount of tanks you have. This is in space so it may be possible that the tanks would be much larger and therefore have a much larger cannon. Edited by - DaVoid on 09-12-2003 03:05:41

  • There are probably a few people who would love to take a Panzer and cause problems for Bretonia. Give it a custom gun, call it a torpedo... let it equip a couple level 10 guns... give it shields, and dont give it an engine trail... make an exhaust system on the back the thruster... and sell it in Rhineland. If that´s not poison ivy, then lick it...

  • you guys are friggin idiots, when I posted this, I said "TREAD AROUND AND BLAST THINGS" MEANING, on the fu***** planet surface, you dumb fu**s...Unless you´re being sarcastic, then you´re all right, but tanks in space?!?! IT´S common sense people!!!

  • Check out coffeebreakarcade.com. They have a game called tank hunter, where you go arround blasting stuff in, guess what, a tank! Try it, the graphics suck, but it will satisfy your lust for blood and things that go boom. Also note, according to Newton´s laws of motions (which are ignored in FL, but oh well) a tank fireing a shell would cause a reaction that causes it to spin out of control. Therefore, a tank is worthless in space. Although, a full turrent on a space ship isn´t a bad idea (think of all your guns having 360 movement). --- RR16 Whoever came up with "Mission Commision" should be lined up and shot

  • Using tanks on the planet? That would be stupid. It´s a space sim not a Tank Sim Life: No one gets out alive. <img src=´http://www.planetgromit.co.uk/tlr/rilms.gif ´> <img src=´http://www.planetgromit.co.uk/tlr/ss.gif ´>

  • What´s the approximation of firepower from capital ship to cruiser to gunboat to heavy fighters to light fighters? Such as 1 battleship = 2 cruisers = 4 gunboats = 8 heavy fighters = 10 light fighters. I realise this is sensative to each house, so we´ll presume I´m talking about Liberty (I don´t think you engage any other house´s cruisers in the game, or even see them for that matter). Off topic, but then again, so is stalking each other. --- VH16 Whoever came up with "Mission Commision" should be lined up and shot

  • When I think about that, that actually sounds really cool, a ship like a Patriot with a oversized gun on top so when you fired it you would spin around like crazy. But anyway, tanks on planets sounds stupid, you know what i would like? if planets have 2 ways to takeoff, planetary and space. Then if you chose planetary, there would be a bunch of convoys driving around among faction-based tanks and such, and you could fly around like a planetside assault craft...... But it would take too much coding and time and it has its balance problems (but then again, you never use land, you stay in your fighter only difference is your flying planetside) "Talk Is Cheap Because The Supply Far Exceeds The Demand"

Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to use the Internet and they won`t bother you for weeks.

  • How do people get arround on plannets? Do they all just fly arround in thier ships? In that case, where are all the other landing pads? Maybe I´m just too inquisitive about this game. --- VH16 Before the Wright brothers they said men would never fly. They also said in 1950 that we´d have a moon base by 1989. Makes you think. • I think the larger ships need to be refuled (ie battleships) or else how would the GMG stay in business? It just makes life easier not to use it in the game. I´ve found myself with 250 credits to my name, and if I wasted all that on enough H-fuel to break orbit, then where would I be? --- VH16 Probably not here because I would have thrown out FL and never found this site Whoever came up with "Mission Commision" should be lined up and shot
