Hi, is there an easy way to increase the cargo space on the ships. How do I edit a ships cargo space? I am not a modder but I could follow some simple instructions. I would really appreciate some help...
Hi, Does anyone know how to increase cargo space?

Is this vanilla or modded? The reason I ask, if it is vanilla you might need to apply the sdk to it.
But anyways...
Go to the DATA\Ships\shiparch.ini file. Open it with notepad. Find the ship you want. Go to the "hold_size = " and change it to the value you want.

hey forsaken, what if it's already modded, but instead of cargo,im looking at top speed of ship, not the cruise speed ,just the plain speed

That depends on ship engines. If that is what you mean with top speed. Open engine_euip.ini and find max_force = 48000. Increasing the value will change the maximum speed.

thx,i'll give it a try

Hey Forsaken thanks for that. I have done that but when I go to buy a new ship the cargo space advertised is the same. I have edited all the ships in that file also. Do I need to do anything else?
-
The advertised cargo is stored in the dll files - know as infocards. Its just a text. Don't worry. Buy full cargo and you will see it has increased. You also need to change text in infocards in order to achieve what you want.
-
Sethernis is correct, infocards will be wrong unless they are fixed..
But to test if your cargo hold edit is correct, simply go to the commodity vendor and see how much cargo you can buy.
-
OK Thanks people!
-
To correct the infocards you need to edit them with fled-ids which can be found in the downloads section,
-
Update - It works!! now I need to increase the cruise speed, I have increased the max_force speed but it did not effect the cruise speed. Can anyone help please? Also is there a missile mod around that is a homing missile that does not miss?

Go to your constants.ini
Find the "CRUISING_SPEED ="
Change that to your desired number.
-
There is a tool called multicruise. It is a simple dll which adds cruise_speed = entry to engine_euip.ini. Download it and follow instructions in readme.txt:

i have pretty much the same cargo ? but when i change the number and go to a shop it tells me i dont have enough cargo space

Have you changed the hold_size in shiparch.ini for the ship you want?
-
yes, i change the 35 or whatever to 5000 but i can only have enough cargo space for things i mine
-
Troubleshooting tip: your actual cargo space, regardless of what the ship's information card says, is shown when you hold your mouse over the slotted bar labeled "Cargo Space" on the bottom left of the inventory window. Provided you have tool tips enabled.

A few days ago, i played freelancer the first time since 3years.
I finished the story, have a titan and only 10lvl weapons. And now i want to change the cargo space of the titan.
And, yes ive read the whole topic and changed the hold_size to 5000. But it hasnt worked ! So i wanted to change the information card but i have no programm for that (ive searched for a download for FL ID Rev but there arent any )= ).
So plz could you give me a working download link for FL ID Rev? (Or other links to other, might better programs for that)

Why would you want to change the infocard? You can still buy 5000 cargo even if the infocard says otherwise.
-
Check this by holding your mouse over the bar for a few seconds (it will only work if tool tips are enabled). This will show you the true volume of your cargo hold no matter what the infocard says. If you can't buy more stuff than the original hold size would allow and this shows your new hold size, then I don't know what is going wrong. Post the code you changed if that happens.
