Regarding the Coalition Returning

  • Ok ok, I dont mean to sound rude or anything but...Im going to set you straight The Sol system was not destroyed by the Nomads or the Dom Kavosh. Most of us have seen that intro movie and alot of people have taken it the wrong way. There is a good reason why some things are dropped from games. The destruction of Sol at the hands of the games main baddies is a start. Basically, screw what is in that Intro and focus on what is in the game you bought. Unless after 800 years in Sol the Coalition managed to kill themselves off, died through massive resource depletion, overcrowding ect there is nothing to suggest they no longer exist So yea, maybe the Coalition will come back. Maybe they wont. Maybe they ARE all dead. But one thing is certain, they werent exterminated by the Nomads or the Dom Kavosh. Why? Becuase what the hell has Sol getting blown up got to do with the problems in Sirius? Nothing what so smegging ever. Uhh...if that was OTT Im sorry...havent posted in a while and Im cranky... ---------------------------------------- One swift knee in the happy sacks an hell go down like anyone else! • OK, look, if you want to discuss this then open you your own topic. I made this in hopes of informing Newbs that the chances of the Coalition returning is about one billion to one. I was hoping this would not bring on another discussion, and so please, let this be the last post. <A href=´http://theflashgames.com/alien_hominid-swf.html´ Target=_Blank> Alien Hominid</a>

  • Killa, remember, posting a topic invites discussion. Also note, that the story line that was written, was done so by the author. It is fiction and like any other fiction, can be guessed at as to what it could mean. Either way, has no bearing on the game. <img src=smilies/icon_smile_wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Michael Please read the <A href=´http://www.lancersreactor.org/t/forum/faq.asp´ Target=_Blank>Faq</a> before posting. • i always thought it was cut from the game and therefore the intro isn´t part of the game. So we don´t know what happened to the Coalition. After all, having the nomads blow up an entire system makes them way too powerful. where is that video anyway? link? strafe! the three VHF´s are <b>equal </b> in strength You wouldn´t use a <b>cucumber </b> to chop a tomato!

  • What about a coalition return mod? That´d be cool if I ever figure out how to mod and how to script more missions (If it´s even possible.) Captain of the Kep Salu Trekkie and proud of it!

They fired some sort of enegry blast into the sun that made it go all supernova, the sun exploding is what did away with all the planets exept for Pluto.

  • which means they blew up the system <img src=smilies/icon_smile_wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> strafe! the three VHF´s are <b>equal </b> in strength You wouldn´t use a <b>cucumber </b> to chop a tomato!

  • If they haven´t reached Sirius in 800 years, I would say they´re dead. Or they started colonizing in the other direction. Or some enemy poped up between Sirius and Sol. The possibilities are endless. Maybe the coalition had to leave Sol sector because of some crisis, or maybe they ran out of materials, or maybe they transended to another plane of existance, or maybe they found a wormhole to another galaxy. Who the h**l knows, until they reappear? And who say´s the coalition would still be hostile toward the alliance, it´s been over 800 years right?

  • ok, well i say there should be a mod made for the return of the Coalition...or maybe just a new end mission where a couple of ships pop up <img src=smilies/icon_smile_wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> that would really make people anxious for a sequal (if its EVER coming...) &quot;IPOL-Omikron19 your request to dock is granted, proceed to dock four-hundred and ninety two...&quot;

  • I believe she said that they disappeared (she may have used the word vanished, I´m not sure). I´m also pretty sure that there was no evidence of war or disease so there´s no saying where the Dom´Kavosh went.

  • geez, the intro that´s not in the game says &quot;the nomads&quot;. No dom kavash stuff. btw, the dom kavash empire stuff ends at the edge nebula, they didn´t really spread into the Siruis sector. strafe! the three VHF´s are <b>equal </b> in strength You wouldn´t use a <b>cucumber </b> to chop a tomato! • ok then, THE cut out intro is <b>NOT </b> the real Freelancer story, the nomads didnt go into the Solar System and shoot at the sun and destroy it, if they put that intro into official game then that would have happened, but they <b>CUT </b> it out!!

  • Yes, I know that the original movie is not canon in any way or form. The final published movie in the game is correct. But here´s another thought. If it took the Alliance to launch sleeper ships in order to arrive at Sirius, how long and cost effective would a Coalition invasion of the colonies really be? It´s been 800 years too, the Coalition is probably as fractious as the colonies, and unless they have some advanced FTL, mounting an invasion would be very difficult.

  • Never mind the fact that their beef with the Alliance (which really doesn´t even exist anymore anyway) is over 800 years old. That´s plenty of time to cool down, imho. Ultimately though it really doesn´t matter. Coalition, Nomads, Dom´Kavosh...they´re all irrelevant at this point in time.
